So I am going to start running, however, before I invest in new shoes, I would like to know what your fav pair are.

where's my can opener for this big Can O' Worms??? :-D
I've been running in Pearl Izumi shoes for several years now. Before that I ran in various New Balance models. I've never had luck with Nike shoes, they always seemed to fail me. It's all personal of course.0 -
The moment I placed my foot in women's Nike Air Max 2011, I felt a wave of COMFORT rushing from my toes and sole, through my entire leg. It was truly love at first wear.
...Then I saw kids' Air Max was considerably cheaper at that particular store, and my feet are small enough, so I got the kids' version. Bad idea -- the women's version is MUCH more comfortable, I find. I like the kids one enough, but once I retire my pair, I'm definitely getting the women's Air Max.0 -
Good quality ones that fit you properly. Get fitted at a running store if possible. For me, Nikes almost crippled me while I have had good luck with Asics and Brooks.0

My choices are limited because of gait/body frame, etc. Brooks have gotten me through two half marathons so far, and I'm taking them 26.2 in October.0

Go to a good shoe store and have them analize your feet. Each foot is different, and you will need support in different parts of your foot. They can also tell if you turn your foot towards the outside or inside (even if you aren't aware of it). They will recommend a shoe based on your foot. And if its a really good store they will give you a couple weeks to run in it and return it if you need to. We have a great store in NC called "Fleet Feet." If they don't have them near you, look for the equivalent. :flowerforyou:0

Sorry...analyze. Can't spell. LOL.0

The best shoe is the shoe that fits you properly. Buy something a hair bigger, because the more you run your feet start to expand.0

I've had the same pair of New Balance for years, but then after my last year of track, I had to retire them (well worn)! I'm currently running in Saucony and they treat my feet like they're princesses. I also use Mizuno for volleyball. I don't know if Mizuno's running shoes are great, but I have two Mizuno pairs for volleyball if that means anything to you!0

BROOKS!
I'm flat footed and I over-pronate.
But go to a running store and have your feet analyzed for FREE and they will fit you to shoes for your needs.0 -
I LOVE new balance shoes!
I have bunions (they're pretty bad thanks to bad habits while I was in ballet when young) and so I have wide feet. I also over-pronate.
Went to a New Balance store after quite a few people told me about the wider toe boxes their shoes have. They did a free foot analysis on their treadmill and fitted me with comfort stability shoes. They're working great so far and I love the comfort while I'm running. Used them so often they're looking pretty beat-up too! Reminds me..think I'd better start looking for a new pair of NB shoes0 -
I LOVE my New Balance! But as others have said - go to a running store and have them FIT your feet!0

THIS!
And as others have said, get thyself to a real running store (NOT Foot Locker or ****'s or anything like that) that will do a treadmill analysis of your gait and stride. They will also likely watch you walk, stand, and squat barefoot to assess your foot type and how you pronate (everyone does...some just do it more than others).
I'm in Brooks Adrenaline 11s and Ravenna 2s and love them. BUT they may be totally wrong for your feet just as Nike anything is just wrong for mine.0
