The Second Helping

I'm sure I am not strange in saying this, but...who doesn't like a second helping of food? I made myself a lovely dinner, and after eating, I stared at my empty bowl and went "I shouldn't do it... I SHOULDN'T DO IT!!" but then got myself a second (much much smaller) helping. How should one avoid the dreaded craving for another serving?

I wait a little bit and drink a glass of water and that usually helps. If you're really hungry, not just wanting the great taste, then eat!
  • Very strong mint chewing gum. Eat your pre-measured serving of whatever it is, be it dinner, a serving size of chips, two crackers, whatever, then pop a piece of gum straight in. Not only does it take the taste out of your mouth (which is half the reason you're craving it and why water works also), but it makes the food taste foul if you do cave!

It takes about 20 minutes for your body to realize you're full. Eating slower could help you feel satisfied when you're done eating instead of after, reducing the urge to get more.

I'm in the same boat! When he's over and he cooks, all I want to do is stuff my face. Doesn't help that he says that he ENJOYS feeding me...because I feel as if I have this obligation to eat, haha.

When I make dinner I make enough for the hubby and I (or just myself if the hubby is at rehearsals). So I serve it up and that's all there is. Nothing available for second helpings means no temptations to get second helpings. heh

Never go back for seconds here. No reason to as one sensible sized plate is enough
