Losing weight up top - bra/boobie question for the ladies!

Hi all,

Not sure where to put this question but need some help!

I am quite small (comparatively) up top, being a UK 12/14, size 36 (85 cm) bra size with a cup size that varies from a B when overweight to no bra necessary at goal. My bum in comparison is somewhat larger at a 16/18. (When I'm at goal I'm a 10 all over).

I've now lost about 12 pounds and my most recent bra purchases 85B are gaping in the cups. They fit (almost) fine around the chest, but it's just that every time I bend over in a low cut top everything is visible! Obviously my BF is not complaining but I feel somewhat naked. My bra rides up when I lift my arms above my head but as bras are hideously expensive here in Holland I don't want to go and buy an 80A. I had just bought 3x maidenform 85Bs before I started losing @ 40 euros each.

I have some 75A bras which had become too small for me and are in a box under the bed so I'd like to hang on until they fit.

Does anyone else have this problem? What shall I do to sort out the cup size? Chicken fillets?

Help please!

I have the same issue, the pounds are definately coming more from up top!!!

I have bought some tighter vest tops to wear over my oversized bras and that seems to work by holding th top of the cups of my bras closer to my skin. However I won't be able to leave it too much longer before I bite the bullet and buy some new undies.

You could try eBay to get a new bra or 2, I know here in the UK the bra's are very cheap on there even with the shipping it would be cheaper than what you pay. Good Luck!

The only thing you can do is buy new bras.

That's what I had to do - after I had my kids I've gone from an E cup while pregnant to not even an A cup! I have a bra in almost every size going.

I actually ended up getting my Mum to buy me my newest ones for Christmas, but at $45 each I couldn't afford to keep getting them either. My new ones don't even have underwire anymore - they all started to hurt my ribs after I'd lost all the fat there! I feel like a kid with training bras, lol.

But seriously, if your bras are riding up and moving around that much, the only thing they are doing is annoying you. They aren't supporting you and you may as well go without!!
  • Chicken fillets all the way i'd say, Theres not much point paying out loads of money for things that will be too big again soon (hopefull!).
Im determined not to buy new clothes etc til im at my goal. I dont want to get too comfy in the middle stages!! Lol.

Also, if it pretty much fits round the back it should be fine,

You can always try a store like ASDA or Walmart (Whatever is the Holland equivalent) and get some sports bras for fairly cheap? They wont be the best fitting, but they will fit better than what you have now. I know you're pain, I spent easily 300£ stocking up on bras and now a year later I'm putting off going to buy more. :p

You could try getting a bra extender for the smaller bra?

I'm having the same dilemma! They fit ok round the chest, although I've been measuring under bust and I've lost inches (well, cm) there...I'm thinking that when I'm at goal I'll go and get remeasured and see what I can afford.

I think you should buy ones that fit. It's bad for your back, boobs, posture and looks to wear non-fitting bras. I was wearing a 38B until last week, which was my size 15lbs ago, I went and spent £15 on a really good, but non-flashy 34C bra which is my new size. It is very important to have a correctly fitted exercise bra more than anything. If you don't wear the right size, any sagging will be made considerably worse because you're allowing gravity to work its magic on the boob skin. I don't understand, can't you get cheap bras where you live? I was going to buy a couple of £5 bras here in the UK just to get me through because I'm sure I'll shrink again, you can get them in supermarkets, Primark, H&M, ebay...it's nice to have pretty bras from La Senza and Ann Summers but not necessary when you just need a quick fix. You can get new bras with tags on for 99p on ebay UK.

if your bras are riding up, id say your band size is too large. You may possibly be a larger cup size and smaller band size.

what is your ribcage measurement and fullest part measurement?

this may help! and as suzy says above me, you probably are wearing too large a bra if it's riding up - your boobs are weighing the bra down and the straps then ride up at the back.

Glad to hear I am not alone in the shrinking boobage and thanks for all the great ideas! Over here the cheapest bras are around 20 euros, money I'd far rather spend going to the gym or save it up for when I'm littler later :) I'll give the bra extender a go, that's a great idea. I hadn't thought about the sports bras either, those are also riding up!

I hadn't actually measured myself and have a bit of body distortion going on so will get the tape measure out and measure up.

Perhaps we should have a bra swap ;)
