I'm trying to lose this extra person I'm carrying around...

I am trying to go from 286 SW to 145. That's an entire person! I'm down 12 lbs in the first week (I have to brag!) and have been walking an hour (2 mile minimum) every day. I'm thinking about adding actual "workouts" in there and am restarting my gym membership (that I had for a year and used twice) this next payday. I know that I won't lose this much in a week every week but I'm aiming for 10lbs each month. I'm limiting my calorie intake to 1300 a day and keeping a close eye on that number. Anyone else on here trying to lose this extra person they're tired of carrying?

I'm also trying to get rid of that fat &%&$# that keeps dragging me down! She weighs 120 pounds and I want her gone!! I have my calories at 1400 right now but since I usually have a hard time making that I'm considering dropping it. I have a very physical job and I go to Planet Fitness 4 times a week. I'm shooting for 10 pounds every 4 to 5 weeks as well. So.... c'mon! Lets do this!

Just stick to it. Don't get in a rush. If you have a bad day and overeat, remember that you can immediately begin corrective action - just stick to the plan the next day. You will lose weight and you will feel great about yourself. I have lost 31 lbs since January 2011. A friend of mine lost 72 lbs since January and his wife has lost about 42 lbs since January. It is not a mystery. If you stick consistently to the reduced calories - you will lose weight.

It sounds like you are doing great so far, keep up the good work!! I can relate to buying a gym membership and not going. I have done that twice. I would suggest seeing if they have a week free pass available, to see if you like the gym and if you actually go. We have Curves here in Michigan which a lot of people seem to like. I haven’t personally tried Curves yet. I think any extra exercise you add in can only benefit you and you are doing so well. Keep me posted on what you end up doing =)

I would like to lose about 60 pounds. I am 195 right now and I’d like to be at 130 or 135 (the weight I was when I met my husband). My sedentary office job definitely hurts me. When I worked at Meijer years ago and was on my feet all day, I never wore above a size 8. Those were the days lol.
  • yeah im trying to get down to 120 at least. from there ill see if i need to go lower. if i dont. 120 it is. :) and im 242 right now. :O

so thats about another. 122 lbs to go... :O thats a whole person!!!! :O my starting weight was 250. now im 242 so 8 lbs down. :)

    woot!

just keep you heads up. there will be days where you feel like giving up. dont give up.
there will be days you wont feel motivated. keep pushing though

I hear you and with you. You are doing great.. 12lb in a week is amazing. Before you join the gym make sure it the right gym for you. Why waste your money if you're never going to use it. Going to the gym is hardest thing to do. I belong to LA Fitness for years, had all the intent to go but never went. It was so overwhelming. I was introduced to a smaller gym and I almost enjoy going. Do what is best for you. Walking is great exercise

MFP has been the best asset in my weight loss, learning how many calories I was actually eating was an eye opener.

They say 2lbs a week is a healthy way to lose. Keep telling YOU CAN DO IT!!!.

You want some extra support friend me

I had a Curves membership years ago and loved it. I used it for about 3 months and lost over 30lbs. It was easy for me to use, though, because I worked in Hampton, VA, and liked in Norfolk, VA, and the commute through the tunnel during rush hour was anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. I would go workout after I got off of work and, by the time I was done, the traffic would have died down and I could get through the tunnel without a problem. When I transferred locations at work, I moved to a location that was less than 2 miles away from home. Great for the commute, horrible for the motivation to workout.

I really do like this gym, though. It's a block from my house, has great hours (5am until midnight) and a large variety of equipment. The problem I have, other than making excuses, is that I am a preschool teacher and a college student. I have 18 credit hours each semester and work about 20 hours a week. It's easy to make excuses about not having time. I'm working on that, though.

I workout in the morning. I am not a morning person, but after a long day at work I had no energy to work out. It took a while to get use to going. However, it can be done. Going through the day knowing I have already been to the gym is wonderful.

I'm a believer you make time for what you want to do.
