another HRM question

I know there are a ton of questions about HRM's...but I have one too. I think I'm leaning towards the Polar FT7 but I keep thinking maybe I should try to find something that is designed to wear all day (rather than just for workouts). I have a suspicion my metabolism is slower than the "average" so I think the calorie burn that MFP says I have naturally is too high. I am wanting to make sure I really get the right deficit. I have looked into the BodyBugg but don't like the idea that it doesn't have a display (without purchasing another piece of equipment) and requires a monthly subscription. Anyone know if there is an option like BodyBugg (that can be worn all day) that is more cost effective?

    Polar and Garmin make the best HRMs in my opinion. If you run/bike and want GPS for speed/distance, Garmin is better. If you don't care about GPS and just want HRM/calories burned, Polar is probably better. For me, it was worth the investment to have something accurate (otherwise, what's the point). Just make sure whichever HRM you buy calculates your calories based on your heartrate (some of them don't) if that's what you're buying it for. I have a Garmin and my calorie burn can be over 100 calories less than what the fitness equipment at the gym tells me for a 30 minute workout (especially the elliptical). The HRM is accurate...I've held the hand sensors at the gym and it gives me the same beats per minute as my Garmin. I've had it several months, and it's only malfunctioned once...and I think it was because i adjusted the strap mid-run and it was caught up on my sports bra in an odd position. Hope that helps!

    Anything from Polar will work. Never heard of BodyBugg.

    Ive heard a lot of good things about the BodyBugg!! One of my girlfriends has one and she raves about it!

    My opinion.
    Just a HRM will do. You don't need something to wear all day. Cost a lot more money, and I don't think it's needed.

    edit: Plus a monthly subscription?.. Save your money, get a good HRM with chest strap.

    Wear it while exercising. Watch your calorie count when eating, and eat healthier foods, and you will do great.
