Yesterday I went to town with my mum.
She knows what I am doing in trying to be a healthier version of myself and as such she spent the entire time talking about;
1) The amazing fried ravioli she had for dinner the night before
2) The amazing chicken puff pastry pie she was making for dinner that night
3) How much she wanted egg noodles from the noodle bar for lunch (chinese takeaway - I used to have 2 a week.. cut it out 2 weeks ago)
4) How she had some iced buns and a bottle of coca cola (used to drink 5/6 cans daily, I cut it out altogether last week) to give me to "cheer me up"
Anyway, i thought "egg noodles, can't be so bad right?" and off we went for lunch. We walked in and the smell was sooo nice. I was absolutely ravenous and wanted egg noodles with caramelised chicken SO SO badly but I looked at it and instead of what I would usually see (sizzling chicken in a sweet gorgeous coating) I saw FAT.
The noodles were actually SHINY, the chicken was sitting in puddles of oil and it was like a switch had been flicked and I had to walk out as I could suddenly smell the fat and the sugar.. My mum was less than impressed but I am so proud of myself.
I know it sounds really silly but I used to think i had no will power whatsoever so for me this is HUGE
ps. we ended up having a baked potato with baked beans and salad (I sent the first one back when it came out with butter on as well) and I took the iced buns home for my family but I had NONE

That's great Tasha! Well done
My mother-in-law sounds a lot like your mum - trying to get me to eat cheesecake and cake and biscuits when she KNOWS I'm trying to eat healthily. It doesn't help that she is always going on at my hubby for his weight and then in the next breath plying him with bakewell tarts and sponge cake! She drives me insane!
You should be so proud of yourself0
