I was wondering, how many calories are safe to have left over in a day? I am trying to lose the weight in a healthy manor. My goal is 1 pound a week (set it low for myself so that I can obtain it and then will work for something higher later) right now I am recomended to consume 1810 calories in a day, but find myself with a few hundred left over from both dieting and exercising. Does anybody have an idea on how many calories left over is healthy?

Your calorie intake is only that high because you are trying to lose only 1 pound a week. If you are finding that you're satisfied with less, maybe you should change your goal to 2 pounds a week and see how that affects it. It might be more in line with what you are already doing.

As long as you are eating at least 1200 per day (women) you should be fine. If you are exercising, you may have more left over some days which isn't a bad thing.

I was wondering the same thing, but I usually try to leave at least 100 or so left in case some calculations were inacurrate then I leave myself a lil wiggle room. Yesterday I had 200 + but had some sorbet to eat up half of those so I can try to eat what I exercise back but sometimes it is difficult to determine.

I agree with healthyally. I lost between 1 1/2 and 2 pounds a week. It was very doable for me-but I did drink plenty of water. Now that I am maintaining my weight-I am pleasantly surprised at how much I can eat without gaining any pounds!
