Hate it when I accidentally eat more than I thought!

So, I've been kind of looking for a bar-ish type thing that I can keep on hand for if I'm having a crazy morning or whatever. I can't stomach MOST of these things (Luna, clif, or even cereal bars). I don't know why. Something about the texture, etc. I did find that I could eat Planters NUTrition bars. Anyway, I was just at TJ's and they have all sorts of bars, and I was starving bc I wasn't planning to go shopping right then and I was too crazy this morning to eat before I brought ds to school. Now, I've heard other people mention Lara Bars, so I thought it would be a good try. I had been reading nutrition labels through the whole stinkin store by the time I got to this aisle, and ds was getting antsy. Well, I read the NI on the Lara bar, but it was kind of in the fold of the wrapper. Saw 120 cal, and thought oh, that's ok, hope it's good. Well, I didn't really like it, but I choked it down because I was hungry and I didn't want to waste it, figuring I could still eat some more when I got home. Just went to log it, and realized GAH!!! It is 120 just in FAT calories!!! The whole bar (and by whole, I mean a miniscule 1.7 ounces) is 230 calories!!!

I know it is what it is, and I will just move on, but DANG. I am still super hungry! I guess I'll just have a piece of fruit, and lunch is in a couple of hours. I just don't like feeling like I was TRYING to make a good choice, and then getting blindsided, kwim?

  • I totally know what you mean girl! I am obsessed with reading nutrion labels so I know exactly what goes in and out but sometimes, with stuff like fruit, I just think "Okay, it'll be healthy!" But it will set me back 150 calories (darn bananas). Try their fruit leathers or the little yogurt/ granola packs at TJ's. They are pretty low cal and very filling!

It does suck when that happens to me becuase my daily calorie budget does not change and that means my next meal has to have a lower than planned calorie content to make up for it. Oh well, it is what it is:smile:

I feel like those bars don't fill me up. Maybe try making breakfast the night before (pour cereal into bowl, milk premeasured out, etc)?
