Meal Plans

Does anybody make weekly meal plans for dinner? I do this before I go food shopping to help save money so I dont buy stuff I dont need and also to help make sure I am making healthier meals. I have been doing this for the past month. Love it however, I kinda feel like I am getting into a pattern. We are budgeting right now trying to save up for our wedding next year. Any ideas on some healthy cheap meals. I have been grilling a lot of chicken and I bought a bunch and frooze them from the butcher when it went on sale. I am really into grilling in the summer. What else is good?!

You should try buying in bulk at somewhere like costco. Some essentials, I believe, would be nonfat cottage cheese, greek yogurt, wheat toast or wheat english muffins, fruits, nuts, etc.0

I tend to use allrecipes.com for my meal planning. I do the same thing! I meal plan for the week. I alter the recipes to make them lower calorie/fat, etc. most of the time. I love their Buffalo Chicken Salad recipe! We eat that a lot! You can make whole wheat quesadillas with pretty much anything in them! We eat a lot of chicken too. I do boneless pork chops, steak salads, turkey burgers--i have a recipe for a turkey burger with some teriyaki sauce and pineapple. You just have to search around for recipes that sound good.0

One of the foods I use that are healthy and save money is dried beans and lentils. Yes they can take some time to cook but are great way to cut cost of meat and still get your protein. I also use the slow cooker a lot.0

- Tilapia Parmesan (from all recipes.com)
- Sante Fe Crockpot Chicken (from skinnytaste.com - GREAT website)
- Turkey burgers with grilled zuchini on the side
- Little mini pizzas on flatout bread or whole wheat english muffins, with some pizza sauce, veggies, LF cheese and turkey pepperoni. Salad on side.
- Crustless Quiche (from allrecipes.com)
Happy healthy eating! :drinker:0
