exercise/balance balls

Anyone have one of those big rubbery balls? I sit at a desk all day and heard it was better to sit on one of these, but I'm not sure how to use is properly. I always feel like I'm tipping forward, so thew only part I feel like I'm working is my legs/calves, and that's one thing I don't need to work. Is it because the ball is too tall for my 5'0" height? Any tips for sitting on one of these things?

I use one at home as my desk chair. There are size charts online to help decide what size is best for your height. I sit on my cross legged and get a great core workout from it.

They are really great for core work but can be used in other ways too! Do check you have the right size though!

You need to hold your abs in when sitting on it to be fairly stable don't forget.

Keep practising, and good luck

I've had one for years and I love it. Definitely check out the size. Maybe check how full you've inflated it.

I just make sure I'm sitting right on my sit-bones (that's what they call them in yoga) with a slight curve to my lower spine. My feet rest comfortably on the ground. Helps when I'm wearing shoes that have a slightly thicker sole, though.

I never worried so much about working my muscles while I sit, I just wanted something that didn't make my hip bursitis flare up by just looking at it. I still hate sitting all day but the ball makes it a little easier.

OK, I probably have one size too big and it may be a bit under-inflated. It is super bouncy. I'll try inflating it more. I adjusted my sitting position and am doing better, although still cannot imagine sitting on it cross-legged. :noway:
