My crime... vanity!

Hi all!
So I'm back in the gym after a few months of illness- feeling 100% now but I've run into an interesting problem. My motivation is up, my body is able, but my head- literally- is not.
Today I went to the salon and got a Brazilian Blowout (it straightens the hair). I can't wash it (get it wet), put it back, push it behind my ears, etc. for the next 3 days.
So needless to say, I won't be going to gym. But is this just an excuse? I literally can't get it wet- and it's really expensive, not something I want to mess around with. So these next few days should I just concentrate on my diet?
Is this an excuse? Should I go to gym? I am leaning towards no and watching what I eat carefully. Any suggestions? Please?

Why not just exercise in ways that don't make your head sweaty? Extra long walks, calisthenics (like planks, pushups, situps, dips, squats...) done with slow, perfect form as the goal, and things of that nature?0

I wholeheartedly agree. There are lots of things you can do that won't make your hair gross and sweaty (and lord knows, I hate to sweat). The fact that you're asking if it's an excuse means there's a part of you that thinks it is. Just my $0.02.0 -
HELL NO!
From one curly-haired girl to another-I GET IT! I like the slow, free weight suggestion. I cannot STAND to have sweat in my hair/forehead when I am trying to keep my hair pin-straight!
GOOD LUCK, and there are lots of other options to choose from!0 -
You aren't supposed to have to wait the three days with the Brazilian Blowout...you do if you got the Brazilian Keratin treatment. Knowing how much it costs to have done, I would not get it wet...but I'm a cheapskate. Yes, it is an excuse...but there are things you can do without turning into a sweat factory.0

I'd say it's a super time to do a Detox! Do something for your body instead of a work out. Relax, take warm baths, rest and recover.0

Wow everyone! THanks so much- definitely going to take the dog for a walk and also keep away from moisture- no sweat guys, sorry!
Detox is a such a good idea- but I wouldn't know where to start and I don't really "believe" in it, however I love trying new things. I think maybe I'll look up some now and see if any strike me.
Thanks for all your advice. Yes, it was expensive and I DON'T want to risk it. Also, there are different types of brazilian blowouts, and this one I can't get wet or anything for like 3 days...0 -
I wouldn't go either.0

I am literally planning my 30 day Shred schedules around my Brazilian Blowdry. If you are spending the time and money on it, don't waste it. I plan to walk on a treadmill in air conditioning, really, really long boring bloody walks and read a book or something. I've almost got myself convinced taking a 4 day break between cycles of shred is going to benefit me more than not taking it (they recommend four days for me for some reason). I know for a fact it will benefit my very thick coarse wavy hair. DONT SWEAT!!!!0

I like simple detox where I stick with fruits and veggies for three days - or I do two smoothies and a real meal. Just detox of keeping it simple for a real short limited period of time to cleanse stuff out - IE, no dairy, no wheat, no sugar kind of detox. There are a lot out there and I never do anything very harsh but find that three days of changing my pattern, and lower calories really jump starts me back into the right mindset for healthy eating if I've gotten a little off track. It's not an excuse, I can vouch for the strict instructions about not getting your hair wet as I've had a BBO myself. Use the next 3 days to detox and plan going forward0

I really, really wanted to get a Brazilian blow-dry, but I realised I couldn't go three days without getting it wet or sweaty! Walk fast outside so you don't get too hot and bothered. Do body-weight resistance at home.
It's only three days!0 -
DONT DO IT. I am a hairdresser and we do these at my salon. It is only 3 days and will be so worth it.0
