Is anyone else having an issue keeping their protien to the allowed amount?? I noticed using MFP that when I try to choose good foods/snacks I am going over on protein. Suggestions are appreciated!!

going over on protein is fine. especially if your working out. im ALWAYS over on protein. Muscle LIKES protein & muscle burns fat. Many have said MFP protein allowance is too low, but I figure I cant go too wrong with lean meat & chicken0

That's a good thing, eat lots and lots of protein. MFP has the protein settings set very low so you can actually change that if you want to. I have mine set to 45/30/25 carbs/protein/fat0

Up your protein percentage in the "goals" section. I think you need to go to "custom" I'm at a point where I struggle to get all my protein when you add my % plus exercise.0

More protein the better, I get in about 250grams a day! I dont go by MFP's recomendation of 100g a day, I would DIE, if your active you should eat .5-.75g per pound of lean body weight.0

As long as you are doing about half your weight in protein (i.e. if you weigh 100 pounds you'd eat 50g), you should be fine. I think mfp has it set a little low.0

I have read a million times to eat the amount of protein in grams that you want to weigh.. so my goal weight would ultimately be 130, so i eat between 100-130 grams of protein. When you concentrate on eating good protein, you naturally eat less carbs too! Im not knocking carbs because I eat plenty of whole grains and fruit for energy for my runs, but my stomach is a lot flatter when I eat lots of protein! I get a lot of my protein from greek yogurt, protein powder, egg whites, and lean chicken and beans.0

I've had the same issue. Tonight when I was fill this out I noticed it again but when I put in my aerobic exercise it went the other way. I am now under I'm guessing that maybe all I have to do is more exercise. Sorry no help, just a comment.0

The pre-set goal for protein is very low on MFP at 15% (and carbs way high, at 55%). I've read that a good ratio for carbs/prot/fat is 40/30/30, (as opposed to the "guided" goal of 55/15/30 on MFP). Of course, they say you should consult with a health professional. I got my information from a great book called "Fat Wars." Good luck!0
