I need a little guidance here. I'm reading this great book recommended to me by a new MFP friend on training for a triathalon. In it they recommend different training zone based on heart rate. My problem is that my max heart rate will be 190 (going by the formula in the book 220-30 (age)) When I do my normal on the treadmill my heart rate is between 170-175, that is 80- 90% percent of my max which is to high. I've read a few different articles that say its better for running and endurance to be around 75% of your max which would be about 150. I don't know if it matters but my resting heart rate is 65-70.

How do I run and still train myself to have a lower heart rate?? How do I train my body to lower my heart rate in the first place? i'm having a hard time finding info out there on how to do this.

Did you just start running? I've found thst now thst I've been running for a few months, my HR doesn't go up as much as it used to. I usually run on treadmill at 5 or 5.5, and seem to average around 145ish...

I've been running for about 5 months now, my distance has improved in the past few months. I'm doing 5k a few times a week.
