Low Glycemic Diet

I have a friends that's using this diet and has lost weight but with very minimal exercise. Is this really healthy or is it just an easy way to lose weight and is there a higher chance of regaining the weight. Her sister thinks that it's just a fad and that she will gain it back quickly. She keeps preaching about it but I've been down that road before and I would rather have some foods that I enjoy (in moderation) and work out and see results from hard work. It just gets tiring of listening about it all the time and what foods are good and bad. Before when I was restricting and really limiting my food I would gain like 5 lbs overnight if I ate a big meal. Now with my eating and exercise if I have a bigger meal or it in a restaurant I actually still lose weight.

What ever works. If you are losing weight eating and going to restaurants then eat away.

I eat a low Glycaemic Index diet and it's amazing, it's not a *fad* diet - it's actually extremely healthy, and nowhere in the books about the diet does it stop you from exercising, that's her personal choice and not GI diet specific.

That's similar to the South Beach Diet. It recommends you eat foods that are lower on the glycemic level. It's a much more healthier way to eat; but do what works for you and after you get to your goal re-evaluate what you want to move on to next.

You can do a low GI diet. My husband was checking into as well if I remember, something to do with the GI burning longer..not sure. I just watch my carbs and fat intake. I have lost pretty large amount of weight in the last month and am comfortable with the route I have chosen, which is completely different then others on this site.

If you chose to do this I would see a doctor first and I would ask them if it is safe for you and should you also incorporate exercise into the diet and is that safe for you.

Never just except what someone is telling you to do, always do what is safe for your body. Because your friend chose not to exercise is only going to get her so far in weight loss and because she has not fully change her lifestyle she will plateau in her weight loss and more than likely gain the weight back.

So...good luck with your journey however way it takes you! :)
