How did you choose your goal weight??

I'm 5' 1.5" and have chosen the goal weight of 127-130lbs, but it's really not that significant. My goal is to be a size 4, which is a very practical number for my frame. Even that's not set in stone, though. I'll get down to size 6 first and make adjustments if necessary.0

I also have a body that doesn't look like it weighs what it does. I think a lot of it is the fact that not only do I have a lot of body fat, I also have a lot muscle compared to other females. I've always been a pretty muscular person from a very young age. I do remember being so tiny though (in photos) when I was 4 or 5 years old. That was before I blew up like a balloon.
I have set my goal weight based on weight and/or dress size. I'm 5'1'' and weigh 175 right now & fit a size 12/14. I've weighed as much as 199 and dress size of 16/18 back in 2004. I figured that for every 10-15 pounds lost, I will lose a dress size or two from the weight changes. I made my goals based on my own body's changes. I've set my first goal weight about 150 lbs by the end of this year (that's in six months!). I know that's possible because I've lost 20 lbs in 4 months w/o the strict diet restrictions I have now put in place & I only worked out twice a week for 45 mins each visit.
So my goal of being 150lbs by the end of this year is realistic to me. I plan on doing cardio 2-3 times a week for 20 mins & then hit the swimming pool to swim about 25 laps in about 45 mins. I drink 80-100 ounces of fluid a day (mostly water or sugar-free drink mixes) & chew my food for a ridiculously long period of time (chew about 50 times per small bite of food). Not to mention that I eat healthier & in smaller portions--chewing that many times per small bite of food really gets you to stop eating quicker. My jaw gets tired! It also keeps me regular & I feel that I'm actually digesting my food better.
Hopefully, by the end of this year I will weigh around 140-150lbs and size 10. Then at the end of next year, I hope to be about 120-130lbs and size 6/8 if I feel that's an attainable weight/figure. I will just be happy to be a healthier weight because I am pre-diabetic w/ polycystic ovarian syndrome, borderline high blood pressure, high cholesterol & triglycerides. I'm studying to be a nurse & will graduate in May 2012 so I want to be a healthy nurse when I get my RN license next summer. Practice what I preach, right?0 -
I chose the weight I felt best at. At 128 I was post pregnancy and super happy with my body. I just wanna be back there.0

I'm 5'2 and female with a pretty muscular build, so I've also always weighed more than people think. When I first started trying to lose weight, I was at least 230 lbs. I selected a goal weight of 140 because I have a cousin who is the same height and has the same body type that I have, and she weighs 140 and looks fantastic. She's curvy but looks fit and healthy, and that's what I want. I'm 10 lbs away from that right now, and I'm actually quite satisfied with my overall appearance, so for me, it's less about the weight and more about getting rid of those last few inches at this point. I figure when all is said and done, I will fluctuate somewhere between 135 and 145, and I'm okay with that.
I finally have a healthy BP and other stats, I'm in the best shape of my life, and I have conquered the whole "lifestyle change" thing when it comes to eating and fitness, and that is way more important to me than a number on a scale.
That is awesome! You are my hero How long did it take you from 230 pounds to where you are at now? And again, congrats!!0
