Is it a bad idea?

I started myfitnesspal 4 days ago. Everyday I have been under my calories before working out. I am usually under by abour 200 or 300 then I workout and it leaves me around 600 under my goal. Is that bad? Probably a dumb question but I'm new to this whole diet and exercise thing and I want to do it right. Thanks.

Yes, it can be bad. After a period of time getting too few calories your metabolism will slow down, and you also risk burning muscle instead of fat. Your MFP goal already factors in a deficit to meet your weekly loss goal, so you should be eating all of the calories, including the ones burned if you want to meet your weekly goal.

Yup...I went through the same thing when I first started. Think of it this way, you would not expect to go on a cross country road trip without filling the car with gas right? Well then how can you expect to exercise effectively with no fuel in your body?

You have to find healthy ways to use up your calories. I try to also eat back at least half of my exercise calories a day as well. it was not easy to do in a healthy way at first. I have incorporated nuts into my diet and healthy fat like avacado. Try to eat 5 - 6 small meals a day. Once you get into a routine, it gets easier.
