HELP! I'm a (very) lazy person. I enjoy watching TV or sitting on the floor reading my toddler books. I have lost a bunch of weight with little or no exercise to this point. Last summer I had gotten in the habit of walking on a fairly regular basis but non the luck so far this year.
Any suggestions on how to get this lazy bones moving in the right direction? Please keep in mind that the forcast here today is in the 90-100 range and it's miserably humid.
Thanks guys, I could really use the kick in the *kitten*

Oh! and I have a Wii Fit and all sorts of games for it that I don't use. That is one thing that I know I need to start doing!!!
I think i'm mostly looking for motivational support to make me get off of my (large) butt and do something!0 -
I found I just aim for one day a week and as I got used to it it was way easier to become active. I really started with one 15 minute walk a week... it also helped that I looked up how it was so important for your heart to exercise that was motivational...0

Until you decide that you're going to do it, nothing we say will help. It's a decision you have to make for yourself. I HATE getting on the treadmill everyday but I DESPERATELY want to lose this weight, so I do it! So get up off your *kitten* and get moving!! ~Hope that wasn't too harsh =\0

hi. i am very lazy at times also. but i really want to lose this wait and i know i have to do this to get to my goal. you can do this. you are never really gonna want to do it. just gotta start doing it and it will become a lifestyle change and before long you will just do it because it becomes natural. You can do it. GET UP AND MOVE=)0

im haveing the same problem but its all a mind game, cause when i talked myself into getting the wii zumbia out again today .i didit and it feels great.just talk your self into getting up even if only half hour its so worth it..0

When I need a bit od self motivation I read fitness magazines. There is always something in there to inspire me!0

Try Zumba for the WII. It's so much fun dancing that you don't even feel like your exercising. Of course, I would suggest the air conditioner be on during this work out cause you will look like you just got out of the shower after just a 20 minute work out. I also like to walk on the treadmill with a TV on. I will put on one of my favorite 1 hour programs and just go. (again, have the AC running). Good luck.....Get up and go! :-)0

You have to make a plan and putting it in writing on the fridge helps dont allow yourself any tv until you do at least 15-30min of something active if u have fav shows this works well you could get in 15min of wii prior to each show0

HAHA, how funny, I am THE SAME WAY. Ok, so I joined CURVES, it's awesome, you get all your cardio in and you ony have to do it for 30 minutes 3 times a week. I am the LAZIEST person ever, but when I started curves, i started getting more energy and its also helpful to just get away and do your own thing. Its really easy and fun and the 30 minutes passes like nothing. You should really look into it.. I think i pay like 36 and some change a month. So anyway, not a spokesperson for curves i just think it'd be beneficial GOOD LUCK!!!0

As others have said, you need to find the motivation for yourself and do it. We're all here to support you though, and it really does get better with time once exercise becomes part of your routine. That first week or two may be tough making yourself go for a walk, go to the gym, do some jumping jacks...but you'll start noticing how good it makes you feel and it won't feel like such a chore. You can do it!!0

ok so you said you have a toddler ( or you like to read toddler books LOL) use her to be your exercise equipment. I lift my grandson 5 times over my head then do a circle with him out in front of me. We lay on the floor and I bench press him then do leg lifts with him riding each leg. 30 minutes of play and we are both pooped and I got a work out and he got giggles from gramma.
If daytime walking is to hot get creative walk early or late or find a mall that has a walking course. ours does and i love it.
Find a pool and exercise in the pool.
I work odd hours so i do a lot of stretching in front of the tv0 -
Go with what Nike has always said.
Just do it.
That's all it took for me. DO IT. So I do. Not every day, some weeks not at all. But many days, I do it. It can be anything you want. Workout dvd, walking, fitness games. Just do something, anything.
DO IT.0 -
I love the suggestions! They are great! Another thing that I have read before is sometimes if we don't want to exercise say to yourself I will exercise for maybe like 20 mins. Once you get going, you'll feel great and want to keep at it! Also, find something you'll enjoy! There's so many great workout videos that are fun! Have you tried Turbo Jam or Turbo Fire? I can tell you about my experience with Turbo Jam if you would like! It is important to do somethign you enjoy!0

Books are great, but do something that is both play & exercise that you can do WITH your toddler! It will be time spent together & you'll be passing along good habits. Even if just dancing to Yo Gabba Gabba or something...0

I have a treadmill and recently bought an IPOD...I downloaded a bunch of music and that keeps me on the treadmill longer. I walked 2 miles this morning without realizing it! Good luck and ADD me if you want to0

Can you find something you actually LIKE to do? Lots of people recommend Zumba because it's fun and effective. I really didn't get active until I discovered that I LOVE kayaking, but of course, you have to be near a lake or river. Swimming, roller blading, kick boxing - those are all really fun exercises. If all I had to look forward to was a treadmill or running outside in this heat, I'd be on the couch.0

The Wii Fit was what started me going. You don't have to start running right out of the gate. Just start by doing a little bit more here and there. Try parking farther away, yoga, walking, etc. Good luck!!0

What a great idea to walk the mall. The mall local to me has a group that meets to walk together. When you feel the pressure to not let someone else down, or even better, find a group of people that you enjoy hanging out with, it may give you more motivation to keep going. Ask at the info desk at the mall, or give them a call.0

Hey and you've already proven to yourself that you can have will power to do what you set your mind to; you've already started losing weight! You can do this too!0

Thank you so much everyone! You guys are all so inspiring, I love you0

You're normal. We're all innately lazy. But if you make a plan (not just in your head but put it on your planner, calendar, whatever you use) and start out gradually, doing what you like to do and then adding on to it as you go. For example, if you like to walk, put on your calendar a post it or a reminder on your cellphone, whatever you use to organize yourself every day, that you will walk four or five times per week. Or maybe every day. Whatever you think is reasonable. After you are successful with this, add in a DVD or Wii program once or twice per week. Or more. If it's too hot, use your DVDs instead. Or shorten the length of your walks. Make it simple and you will find it easier to stick with it. Good luck!0

I think we all hit the "I don't really want to workout today feeling".... but I what I've done to get some workout done during my day, I split it up! I don't feel I'm there for 1 hour, and keeping an eye on my watch to see if the hour is over LOL...so this is what I do:
Take advantage of bathroom breaks. At least that's what I do at the office, since I'm sitting down all day, but I'm lucky to have a private area. I do some of the following:
2 min Jumping Jacks
2 min Rope Jump (w/o a rope LOL)
3 reps Lunges
3 reps Side Lunges
3 reps push-ups against the counter
3 reps of squats
I also do some of the quick workouts on ExcerciseTV.com 10min or less. Here are some, but you can find a lot more online.
Cardio Shape up: http://www.exercisetv.tv/workout-videos/cardio/cardio-shape-up-7758
Cardio Sculpting: http://www.exercisetv.tv/workout-videos/cardio/cardio-sculpting-7197
Waist Burner: http://www.exercisetv.tv/workout-videos/cardio/waist-burner-6303
Little by little you'll start adding more and more. I read somewhere SOMETHING is BETTER than NOTHING but we have to make it happen!0 -
Walk later at night?? Do crunches/push-ups/leg lifts/STRETCHES!!!!! during commercial breaks? Idk... I'm in the same boat. Good luck!0

well those wii games will get you active. My boyfriend and I always play the wii games like baseball, tennis, bowling, fencing etc. and we break a sweat! I would love to wear a HRM and see how many calories I'm burning, plus its fun! To see results though you would have to go in intense mode, and definitely stretch before you play because it makes you sore lol0
