Well, my gigantic delicious salad for lunch was a little TOO big, I guess - I'm already at my calorie goal and over my fat goal for the day. I'm planning on getting in a P90X workout later, but it's a weights workout, not cardio so I usually don't eat back those calories.

Should I bump the weights and do more cardio? Or just snack on water and an apple later? LOL

How long is the workout? You need to eat and i dont think an apple is enough. Just try to keep under what your body weight need for the day. Weight training is great so eat some protein later after your workout.

I'd stay on schedule with th P90X, then take a brisk walk to earn enough extra calories for a light dinner. And if you go over, don't worry too much about it. Just learn from the mistake.

Ah yes, but I have a tendency to turn that "one day" into "one year," LOL!

It's about an hour, I usually burn a few hundred calories (according to my HRM). But because it's strength training, I just don't usually eat the calories back. i could have a protein snack afterwards.

Why would you not eat back strength calories, but you'll eat back cardio calories? Calories burned are calories burned, no matter what kind of activity you're doing. And I'd venture to say that it's better to eat the strength calories, because your muscles need the extra energy to repair. With cardio, you're not doing any muscle damage, but you do damage with strength training. Protein and calories are crucial for keeping the muscles healthy during strength training.

Yeah! Eat them back! Don't worry about being over, 'cause you're actually not! :)

LOL, I don't know, I don't think I can give you a rational explanation for why I don't! I just never have, I think because I don't truly believe that I've burned that many calories through strength training, so I'm afraid that I'm eating too much. I do always have some protein afterwards to help with muscle recovery and rebuilding, though.

If you have a HRM, it's an accurate burn. If you want to not eat them back all the time, that's fine, but on a day like today where you're accidentally over, use them. Eat a healthy dinner and call it good.
  • I'd do the strength training, and add cardio for today. Just because P90X doesn't say so, doesn't mean you can't. :) definitely eat - it's unhealthy not to.
