seven months to go on 3 year plan!

January 2009 I weighed 317#. If I averaged a pound a week weight loss it would take me three years to reach what was considered a healthy weight. I decided if I wasn't willing to commit to a three year program I was better off not bothering.
So I committed to a three year program. First year and a half went well, I lost 77 pounds almost on schedule. I remember bragging to my aqua-aerobics instructor that I was within 5 pounds of my scheduled weight loss.
Then I hit a plateau. Continued dieting, changed up exercise programs, did everything I knew to do except keep a food journal (I HATE that!)
Didn't gain, but just staying in place shouldn't be this hard. If I'm staying on the diet I want to lose!
In the second week of a one month planned break from the diet (Atkins). Committing to my food diary. I want to get to "One-derland," that magical place were the first digit of your weight is a "1."
My high school graduation weight was 180#.
I stayed at 160# in the military (with effort).
To reach a "healthy" BMI of 25 I'm going to have to get to 150#.
Somewhere in that neighborhood will be good. But first I have to find a way off this darned plateau.

Two things cause a plateu...
1) Your gaining muscle at the same rate as you are losing fat
2) Your DIET!!!
99.9999% of the time, its #2
Keep a food journal. That will shows you areas of improvement. It REALLY opened up my eyes! I lost 9 pounds in a week--- BAM - just like that. If you hate keeping a food journal then you probally hate what you see. Thats the beauty of it! You can see and fix. Plateu breaks down...0
