I am new to the site, actually really new only 1 day new. I find myself tracking really easily, though my caloric intake is around 1,000 lower than recommended, but my protein is always above recommended suggestion. My first question is having that many spare calories a concern? Is my protein intake to much to be of concern? My fat intake is low as well, but my carb intake is fine. I am just wondering if I am going about this correctly.

If you are working out--then I wouldn't worry too much about the protein. You want to intake high protein as that will help build up the muscle, which you need to burn off the fat. And If you're eating 1000 cals less than recommended (without working out), then you're probably not eating enough to fuel your body. I would suggest eating some fruits and veggies to get the calories in- a simple protein snack before bed helps keep your metabolism up and can help you to not be 1000 cals less--like an apple and peanut butter. If you're working out, and eating the calories recommended, but the net is 1000 cals low (because that's how many you burned in exercise), then I wouldn't worry. Just make sure you're eating at least 1200 cals/day so your body doesn't go into starvation mode.
