The Snack Monster

I wrote this poem yesterday, just for fun. Enjoy!

The Snack Monster

From a sneaky gray corner
He creeps from his haven
His hair tousled forward
His sticky hands laden

He brings quite a feast
Of festive delights
Colored candies and fruit loops
And caramel bites

He looks friendly alright
Rather fluffy and light
Cotton candy with eyes
And warbley thighs
But the snack monster laughs
When you eat his pies

And his chippety chips
For both chocolate and dip
And he knows that as soon
As sugar meets lip
You’ll want more

And with well refined tact
The snack monster yaks
About candy canes stacked
And hard peanut brittle
Already pre-cracked

He tells you that one pound
Is not much to gain
You’ll lose in a jiffy
Without any pain

Just eat it, he tells you
As he prances about
With his warbley thighs
And his sniffity snout

It’s tasty and yummy
And simply divine
You’ll lose it by Tuesday
Trust me- more wine?

But you stand up erect
And look him in the eye
And say, Snack Monster No!
Please leave, sir
Goodbye

You look sternly at him
And without any grin
You remind him that cookies
Grow your chinny chin chin

The snack monster looks
At his poor sticky feet
So forlorn and sad
For a rejected sweet

He just wanted a friend
A chummy old pal
To share pralines and pretzels
And custardy shells

Hey Mr. Snack Monster
Don’t feel so lonely
I’ll be your friend
If you eat healthy only

Eating well really
Is so much fun
Now put on some shoes
Let’s go for a run

The Snack Monster smiled
Put on shoes with glee
And forever and ever
Swapped butter for ghee
