Attn. Runners! What to eat before Mud Run??

I always do my runs throughout the week on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning. I find it works best for me this way.
That being said, I am running a 5K Marine Mud Run on Saturday. The course is full of obstacles, mud pits, walls to scale, hills to climb, etc. Temperatures have also been in the 90's every day this week, and will be on Saturday as well.
So, I'm thinking my regular empty stomach routine might not cut it for this race, but I have no clue what would be a good food option.
Any advice?

Before a big run, I eat easily digestible carbs for energy. A slice of toast will jam or honey on it or a banana. You don't need a LOT of energy, just enough that your body will respond well once you start working. The general rule is simple carbs before exercise and protein immediately after.0

A banana or two or some oatmeal might work depending on what time you are running and what time you are eating.
I wouldn't eat right before (at least 30 minutes before the event works for me usually).
I did a warrior dash a month or so ago and my wave started in mid-afternoon. It was an adjustment because I usually run in the mornings on the weekends. I ate a semi-regular lunch about 3 hours before and I felt good for the run.
(and it was freaking awesome and very addictive..now I want to quit my job and travel the country doing races like that )0 -

I do EXACTLY this same thing - half a bagel with jam and a banana. and a five-hour energy if the race starts in the early morning!0 -
We did a mudathlon not to long ago! We were told to eat pasta the night before. The morning of we ate eggs sausage and fruit! Then about 15 minutes before the race we shared an orange!! Had a blast and felt good!! We are doing a marine mudrun this saturday and then the 21st we are doing a tough mudder. Very addictive!!0

Banana with one piece of toast with peanut butter. I can't do honey or jam...anything sweet seems to give me indigestion when I'm running. Anything more than that and I get a side stich. Good luck on the run, I've always wanted to try one. :drinker:0

Its a 5k you don't really need to eat anything even if it has obstacles. I ran a tough mudder on an empty stomach.0

Cool. I have a 5k this Saturday and was wondering myself if I should eat beforehand. I also usually run on an empty stomach.0
