Feeling Frustrated

I have lost a significant amount of weight but I still have a ways to go. I am soooo tired of being the "fat girl". I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. I welcome any suggestions/comments on getting over this "mental hump".

just remember,ur only human everyone has those days! those days where ya think "screw it,im eating the krispy kreme" or "uhh no,i dont feel like getting on the treadmill" and whats worse is when you dont see the scale moving.Keep doing what your doing, your doing a great job!0

I have those days. Days where all I can think about is what I want to achieve vs what I have already achieved. Try and switch your mindset and focus. You've come a long way -- be proud of that!0

Three nights ago I opened the journal I've been keeping since I started on January 1, 2010 and started reading. I had topped out at 157 after the birth of my daughter and had lost a few pounds afterwards. A year ago today I was celebrating a 10 lb weight loss and was so happy to be in my 140's. A year later, I'm even happier to be in my 120's. There were many entries in my journal of frustration. But I kept pushing through the hard times and came out the other side. I only have a few pounds left to goal. Never give up! The good days WILL outnumber the bad days.0

I can empathize with your frustration. You're right...need to get past the mental crap that holds us back.....I'm in the same boat and wish I had an answer. You have accomplished a lot already and I am just beginning (again)....Hang in there!0

Heather- we all get the blues sometimes....I am also in a funk right now too- ugh! Hang in there but also just do something you feel good about even if it is doing something nice for someone else. The good mojo is often enough to turn a crummy mood into a positive. Also- based on what you said you have had some great successes. Focus on that next goal and what it will mean to you to reach it. Remember how making positive lifestyle changes are so good for your heart, your mind, your knees, hips, feet, self esteem, energy...need I say more.
If you are not sick of hearing me preach, friend me. I would love hear about how you have done what you have done. I am reletively new here and I need some good tips.

Oh, gosh, I SO understand. I've lost over 60, and sometimes I think, "YEAH, look at that, woo-hoo!" But other times I look at how much I still have to go--it doesn't feel like much a victory when I STILL weigh over 300 pounds, you know? Here's what gets me through--in a year, I can either be STILL over 300, or I can be a hundred or more pounds lighter. And it all depends on what I choose to do NOW. I've spent years just shambling along, so depressed, so paralyzed by this. My motivation comes from thinking, "Hey, what if I had done this a year ago? Where would I be now?" In one year, I don't want to look back and ask myself that question. I want to look in the mirror and see a hundred pounds less of me and say, "THIS is where I can be!"
Did that make ANY sense?

Try this.. instead of focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel and how far you have to go...Turn around.. look at how far you have come and how great it makes you feel!! You have lost a 'significant" amount of weight. Some people are not strong enough to do that. Cheer for how far you have come.. go and try on clothes that you used to wear and see how amazing you really are!!0

Hi Heather ~
I know exactly how you feel because I feel like that many times too. I've lost weight and my clothes are fitting better, but it doesn't show. In fact, my mom in a nurse and the other night I went up to the hospital so I could get an accurate weight [I'm in a wheelchair and don't have any balance, so even when I get someone that can help me stand up, my weight can fluctuate by as much as 40 lb on a regular scale] while she was working. They have a scale at the hospital that will weigh me in the wheelchair and then they weigh the chair without me in it so we can get an accurate weight. When she saw that I had lost weight and was down to 226.9 lb she actually looked at me in disbelief and had to rework the numbers to make sure she subtracted correctly. I thanked her for thinking I looked like a cow! Of course I made myself out to seem like I was joking, but in all actuality, that kind of hurt.
I'm proud of the fact that I'm eating better and losing weight. I also feel better about myself. But, like you, I'm tired of being the "fat girl". I want to look good. I want a guy to tell me that I look hot. LOL I've had two sisters who have had weight loss surgery ~ one the lap band and one gastric bypass, and I want to lose weight without going to those extremes.
MFP has been a wonderful first step for me. I've gotten a lot of support here, and I think that just being able to give that support back to others has helped me too. I've also started taking pictures of some of the meals that I'm making and I created a new file called "My Culinary Creations" on Facebook because a lot of my Facebook friends are always asking me for recipes and food ideas. Well, being a normal human being, I would always look for something rich and delicious and that would tempt me too. Last night I posted a picture of a broiled pollack fillet that had been marinated in sun dried tomato vinaigrette, along with the total calorie count, and I had so many compliments on it.
I wish you the best of luck on your weight loss journey. Feel free to add me as a friend. I'd love to help and support you as much as I possibly can.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all the encouraging words...I guess I just need to push through and get past this funk!! This too shall pass(hopefully, sooner than later)0
-
And you see how that works? Beth, you're at a weight that I SO wish *I* were at right now! You're doing great! Right now, I'm just hanging onto the feeling of clothes less grabby, my back less agonizing, and my moving around not impeded by shortness of breath. Victories, every one, right?

Imagine if you still weighed as much as you did before. Imagine if you never made the choice to lose the weight. Now bring yourself back to your current situation and just soak up how good if feels to NOT be at that weight anymore. Sometimes I have to think about where I could have been instead of where I really am now. That might give you some motivation to keep it going.0

It will pass. Take it one day at a time or hour by hour if need be. You've accomplished a great amount so far. Remember that and push through. Just because you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, doesn't mean it's not still there. :-)
I'm taking things hour by hour right now. I just started a few days ago. It's been hard, but I'm very slowly adjusting to my new healthy lifestyle. I know when I reach my final goal how amazing it's going to feel that I did this all by myself. I know I'm going to have some tough days, and it won't be easy, but I just gotta keep going!
Good luck! WE can do this!! :-)0 -

Heather, I used to work for the #1 Motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar. One of my favorite Zig quotes is this: "A positive attitude will not allow you to anything but it will allow you to do everything better."
I used to little miss sunshine but man life has a way of discouraging us. Just keep telling yourself uplifting affirmations. Speak them out loud and talk about yourself as you would about your girlfriends. I just bought a book by Joyce Meyer called "Power Thoughts". It just came in the mail yesterday and I have not started (been making curtains) but I know it is a good one since one of best friends recommended it. )
Hang in there and keep up the good fight. You will prevail.0
