The more you sweat = the harder you exercise?

Those of you with HRM, does your HR go higher when you're sweating more?
Sometimes I'm exercising my butt off, yet I'm not sweating much. My body temperature does get really high though. Could that be a sign of dehydration? (running out of sweat?)

Yep! Mine does! But I sweat a lot anyway - I have naturally sweaty palms and feet. It also depends on the aircon in the gym - there's one elliptical that hardly gets any breeze and that one makes me sweat ridiculous amounts.0

Thanks for the reply. Hmm, I wonder if that's why I sweat a ton when I exercise at home... (gym is noticeably cooler than home)0

Lack of sweat is a big sign of dehydration if on the norm you usually sweat a lot. The more that you work out over a period of time, the better your body will be at sweating, and you will begin to sweat more and more! Sometimes it gets irritating lol0

That's interesting! I can see how that'd be annoying during the exercise, although I do feel a sense of accomplishment when I look at myself in the mirror with my shirt wet with sweat. It's like a proof that I worked my butt off.
Note to self: drink more water in the morning...0 -
you should eb drinking like 8 glasses of water per day, how much are you drinking?0

It could be age/hormone related. About 10 years ago, my mom basically quit sweating unless she was doing very strenuous activity. I don't know if she still has a problem with it since I've been out of the house for quite some time.
But dehydration would be the first thing to check, If you're hydrated and still not sweating, then I might worry.0 -
Yes, i sweat tonnes!!
I drink 4-5litres of water a day0 -
I drink when I work out and I don't sweat much, even when my HR is up high. I think it has more to do with genes than anything.0

myth
You need 1ml per calorie, and most of it is readily available from food you eat.
If you want to drink more than that, its not going to do you any harm, but there is NO evidence to suggest more than that is beneficial0 -
I sweat more now I'm fitter. I run 4 miles every weekday morning and 4 months ago I was just a bit warm. Now I'm going faster (just done it in 40 minutes!) I am literally dripping when I stop! I love this as it makes me feel as though i've worked really hard.....>!
