I had an egg this morning...... it had TWO yolks!! I was quite happy because I like things out of the ordinary (my usual eggs have 1 yolk!) but then realized I would have to up the calories from 70kcals an egg to around 150kcals!!!

Anyone ever seen a triple yolk?

I have heard of triple yolk eggs. I raise quail and am part of a poultry forum, it happens sometimes. Normally double yolk eggs come from young chickens, or in the case of a farm selling eggs that are promised to be double yolkers it is something that runs in their genes.

If the eggs were fertile they would develop as twins. But it is uncommon for them to both survive in an incubator until 21 days of age when they are old enough to hatch.

I've seen that many times... I wouldn't double the calories for that, because I think each of the 2 yolks are smaller than a single yolk. So maybe 90-100 cals instead of 70.

    I agree.
