ok so a month or so ago, i would watch everything i ate, i would log on almost everyday, count cals, work out everyday, and saw like 0 results, i did cardio, i did 30 day shred to lose inches..and nada. so now im in the middle of a move so i havent been logging on here, i havent been counting my cals or working out every morning. im still keeping an eye on what i eat but ive just been busy packing up the house and stuff...and i lost 5 pds, which is good but heres my question:
i know working out will tone my body hence why i was working out but like i said, i havent been, and lost weight, but my body doesnt look any different. at 126 and 131, my body looks exactly the same, when i get a chance to work out again, i will, and ill tone and gain muscle..but shouldnt u look a lil different when u lose pds?????

5 pounds is nothing when you're first losing weight. it's possible that it's all water weight.0

When you workout your body (muscles) store water to protect them and aid in recovery. Now that you are not working out as much your muscles shed the water. It is not fat loss, this is another reason why the scale lies. Try taking measurements instead, and focus on how you look and feel, and how your cloths fit.0

yah butive been trying to loose weight for over a year. i lost 8 pds in like a year, so if it was water weight, i feellike that would have happened months ago.0

No necessarily. You could be losing muscle mass instead of fat (although I would think with box lifting with moving that wouldn't be the case). I've lost weight in so many different ways over the years. I'll wear the same size at so many different weights depending on how I lose (not eating vs. doing it the right way.....). Or it could be water weight - when you were really counting calories - were you eating lots of lean cuisines and the like? Lots of sodium in those.
Our bodies just make no sense sometimes! Good luck with the move!!0 -
Losing weight and losing fat are different. Losing weight means losing fat, muscle, and water. Working out helps to decrease the muscle loss part of that. You organs and muscles are full of water so it's possible that you can't see it or that you've lost it in places that you don't pay much attention to like your fingers, neck, etc. You probably didn't lose it in the places you wanted to so that's why you don't see it.0

Document your weight loss with photos. A lot of times our bodies look the same to us because we look at ourselves 24/7. But if you see photos of yourself, you see the difference. I've tried to keep photos of my progress and it has helped keep me focused because I can see the difference.0

When you have less to lose you don't notice it as much than if you have a ton to lose.0

1 inch is a lot in one month - How long were you actively tracking with zero results? I would say to give it at least 30 days before any changes - also, how much water were you drinking? what types of food were you eating - if your sodium was too high, you could have been retaining water - and I don't think anyone on here would give you the advice you might be seeking - which is "oh, since you did not track and you lost weight do that" - tracking nutrition (vs. calories) is 80% of the journey - and it is a lifestyle change, not a short term committment - keep working out - you will see results, maybe just not as quickly as you were hoping - but don't give up!!0 -

I actually notice it MORE when I have less to lose.0 -
I agree with a lot of the responses. Another thing to consider... Could depend on your body frame/structure. For instance, my friends are dropping a dress size every 10 pounds... For me, it takes about 20-25 pounds to drop a size. So it all depends on your specific body carries the weight.0

You could of been at a calorie deficit for sooooooooooooooo long 3+ months and your metabolism could of had been in starvation mode. And now that you have not been tracking you could of been eating more and changed up your metabolism. If you have been at a calorie deficit for along time its good to take a 1-2 week break and eat at maintenance or above.0
