I'm so confused.. I upped my calories bc I don't care about losing more weight. I still eat 90% healthy, but have ate more sweets then usual, and I gain weight.Like 3-4 lbs. Then I have to try hard to work it oof again. This has happened for the last 3 weeeks. I mean do I have to stick with 1,400 calories for the rest of my life without treats??

I exercise 3-4 times a week, and do not always eat back the calories. It works for me. I do drink lots of water..

If you want to maintain, You need to still eat healthy. If it was only a diet to you then you will gain it all back. A healthy lifestyle is forever. It's your decision.

Your metabolism might not be the same as MFP assumes it is. What you can do to find you real maintenance calories is to increase your intake by 100 calories to 1500, stay there for 3-4 weeks, if you don't gain or lose more then up your cals by another 100 for another 3-4 weeks. Do this until you find a caloric intake that you do not put weight on, and that will be your maintenance calories. It may be 100-200 lower than MFP calculated for you.

I'm assuming it might take your body a little time to adjust to eating more calories. I'd give it a week or two to see if you go back down on your own. I've taken a "break" and gone up to maintenance levels this week and haven't gained but I have also stopped eating back my exercise calories since I'm set for 0lbs loss. Good luck!

That's the thing, I still eat healthy for all my meals, I still watch my calories. I rarely, maybe 1-2 since Feb. go over my calories. But If I want a piece of cookie, I allow myself to eat it. So I do consider myself eating very healthy.. I like the idea of the increasing calories a little at a time.

this happened to me when i went on maintenance at first and like you, i felt very frustrated. It seems maintenance is just as much of a pain as dieting.

I upped my exercise now and have stopped counting, and just listen to my appetite instead, making sure not to overeat, and still try and make healthy choices, and i seem to be maintaining ok now. Its settled down. I can vary by a pound or two sometimes, but it never sticks
