hey my question is how much time can we give after exercise and meal..coz there are conflicting reports. some studies say dont eat for 2 hours after exercise and some believe ,: eat immediately afer exercise. which one works out for you .

most studies i have read says that your body continues to burn calories up to an hour after working out but i like to at least drink a protein shake and eat a bananna to help start the muscle repair process. In short i dont eat anything for up 2 an hour on cardio days, but eat the above on my weight training days immediately following.

It would be nice to take time between exercise and eating but that's not often the case. I work out in the morning and then I have to have breakfast and head to the office. I've been doing this most of my adult life without any adverse effects (when I am eating healthy).

I was at a nutritional seminar a few weeks ago and this question was asked. The answer was that if you eat right after a workout, the body is more likely to use the calories up and not store them. The key was "more likely" and the recommendation was a light meal and not something heavy. Hope this helps.
  • thanks everybody.. that means if we eat a light meal afterexercise, its not gonna harm
