I am new to MFP and to calorie counting in general. At first, 1200 calories sounded like a lot to me, but I have been logging my calories now for 5 days and am already down 1.5 lbs! And I even try to eat back most, if not all, of my exercise calories. Just wanted to provide some encouragement to some other newbies out there! Stick to it and good luck to you all!

Thank you! I know 1.5 lbs isn't much, but any little bit helps!

1200 sounded like a lot to you? Wow! Did you know a big mac and large fries totals 1040 cals??? I no longer eat fast food but that totally put things into perspective for me. Now I make my own homemade big macs. :)

Well, I am used to cutting back way too much on calories and I've learned that it hinders your weight loss because you're body thinks it's in starvation mode and holds on to the fat. Using the database here on MFP has totally put things into prospective for me too. I was checking the calories and fat for some items at Taco Bell and was like OMG! I decided to stick with something on their Fresco menu instead. I like how MFP helps you make better choices by educating you about food.

It really is not that hard, right?

No, it's actually kinda fun. Sometimes I plan my breakfast the night before so I know how to spread my other calories out throughout the day. I also have the MFP app on my phone and I think it's so cool how you can just scan the bar code on your food and it comes up with the calories! So helpful and quick!
