its probably a dumb question..

I got this jolly time 100 calorie healthy pop butter (mini bags)

well it says 110 cal unpopped and 20 calories popped..

are they talkinga bout in a microwave? or do I have to pop it some other way to get the low calories? I wanna make sure I enter it into my diary right

it has something to do with the size of a serving popped vs. unpopped.... usually with popcorn i weight it out once it's popped. if you do a quick google search you can find the weight (in grams) and use that as a guideline. popcorn is confusing that way. :)

My thing is, who eats unpopped popcorn?! I know no one who sees unpopped kernals in a bag and thinks "mmmmm that is one delicious looking snack right there"

Whoa! That's quite a difference. Are they measuring by volume rather than weight (i.e. 1 cup popped vs 1 Cup not popped)? That would certainly vary the amount of kernels in a cup.

I figured it out.. the serving size is 5 cup popped..but this 20 cals if for 1 cup popped..so a whole bag would be 100 calories..man I gotta pay attention better lol

You are exactly right. One cup unpopped vs one cup of popped. Huge difference in volume therefore fewer calories in the popped. You are getting the same if you eat the whole bag. But the unpopped is a concentrated value.
