I naturally zig zag calories...i think!

So my goal cal intake is 1200 per day but I just can't seem to do 1200 everyday or even 2 days in a row. Some days I'll do 1400, 1300 or 1250 and one day even as little as 1050 or 1100. Does that mean I'm "zig zagging" or do I need a certain specific plan of how many Cals per day?

    But since we are both trying this "zig-zag" thing... I wanted to bump this topic to see what people said to you as well!

    I don't think you need a specific plan.. just as long as your weekly calories are the same deficit (meaning, you aren't having too many days that are the high calorie days!) and as long as you keep your body guessing, burning, and healthy!

    Usually zig-zagging calories is in reference to your workout days. On days you workout you expend more calories and thus need to eat more calories (not to mention the benefits of protein in muscle-repair, etc.) On non-workout days you eat less because you are doing less.

    No, it doesn't just apply to work out days. While you have Google open, search for Zig-zag calories. There is a lot of actual research about it. You're going to get all kinds of answers on this post :laugh:

    Zig-zagging calories to keep your metabolism "guessing" = makes no sense.

    Carb and calorie cycling according to workout days = makes sense.
