Weed Eating

Doesn't the vibration count as something? Seriously though -- my sister works in a chiropractor's office and they have this weird vibrating platform, where you burn 2x as many calories in therapy because your muscles are working 2x as hard to perform the exercise.
Yeah, I just made that up.
My shoulders used to get tired after spending a couple hours with a weed-whipper when I worked in landscaping, but that was before I did the Shred and Ripped on a regular basis :drinker:
...to join the bandwagon.
Let me get this straight... You get Ripped on a regular basis from drinking and smoking weed through your weed whip?0 -
haha thats what I thought too...0

Trimming shrubs or trees, power cutter
Depends on weight, age, etc,but for a 5'10" 40yr old Male it's 222 per hour1 -
Sounds like my husband's description for any salad that isn't just iceburg lettuce. "Ugh... it's lawn clippings!"
As for the exercise, I'd just go with yard work.0 -
I read this as eating weed. Prolly makes you eat more than you burn ;-P
I thought the same thing!0 -
Weed eating? Like.....eating weed? I'm so confused. :huh:0
-
Honestly, I wouldn't bother logging it. By weed eating, I assume you mean that you walked around and waved your weed eater along the ground. That's not going to be a tremendous calorie burn. If you must log it as something, log it as just 'walking at slow pace' or something along those lines.0
-
You could always log it as slow walking.0
-
I wouldnt log it at all.0
-
make sure you saute it in butter first0

350 per hour per Wikipedia2
-
This lists push mowing and similar and I would think it is somewhere around the same as push mowing from how it made my arms feel.

Logging weed eating and yardwork as exercise?
No thanks.
That is just normal life, and a bonus calorie burn.
Let's analyze what wikipedia says with about 350/hour for weed eating.
Walking is generally 70-80 calories per mile walked.
So, if weed eating counts as 350/hour that is similar to walking 5 miles in an hour? Walking 5 miles in an hour is, well, just like it states, moving 5 miles in an hour.
That is a 12 minute pace so either a pretty decent paced walk or a slow run for an hour.
To me, it doesnt equate as many things dont seem to when it estimates burns.
..and some people wonder why they dont lose when they eat back some/most/all their" exercise" calories.1 -
I had the same question. Try this link. http://calorielab.com/burned/?mo=se&gr=08&ti=lawn+and+garden+activities&q=&wt=150&un=lb&kg=68
Also another site said the equivalent of 30 mins of running is 1 hour of weed eating.4 -

She asked in 2011. Probably not coming back to check on how many calories she burned 8 years ago.3
