I have been doing low carb low cal diet and exercising almost every day. It has been one month and my weight dropped initially and I lost 17 lbs in the first 2 weeks but then it jumped back up and has been going up and down within about a 5 pound range and wont budge back down again. I have been under 1200 calories every day, I'm measuring and the inches are not coming off and I'm getting really frustrated and impatient! I need to see some sort of progress to continue here, it's been over a week with the scale going up rather than down and I'm taking in less than I'm putting out. I don't get it!

  • Under 1200 calories every day is not enough food for your body to shed pounds. If I were a betting girl, I'd bet your body is going into starvation mode. You exersize everyday and eat below 1200 calories....yep, your body needs more fuel (food) to function properly!

OK.... here are some things i see wrong... one.... YOU CAN NOT EAT UNDER 1200 cals in a day.. your starving your body.... and if exersizing your really doing it harm... i understand the low carb thing.. i am insulin resistant and have to eat every 2 to 5 hours but if eating low carbs it sh ould be 30 grams per meal... your body needs those nutrients... make sure your getting lots of protein to... if you have any other questions just send me a message..... good luck and start eating to loose.... ( If your wondering why i havent lost... i gained everthing back by eating to many carbs a day had to go to drs to find out why i was gaining.... now i know.... )
  • I completely agree, you're not gettin enough fuel!...especially read the post about eating your exercise calories....i was at a stand still for over a month not losing/but not gaining and i was working my butt off! But then read that post and it was like "ding, ding, ding" the light went on, now i lost 2lbs last week! So either up your calories or don't over extend your self on exercise and you'll see the weight drop like a bunch of rocks!

    Good luck girl

Yes, you are starving your body. the initial 17 pounds were water and now your bady is shutting down. What was the orginal amount of calories that MFP set up for you?
  • youre not eating enough. you should never go under 1200 calories, honey, and that's after figuring in your exercise calories.

I know it sounds crazy....eat more and lose weight, but I swear it works.

I was eating 1200 and exercising 300 a day. That means my body had 900 calories to function.

It was not a happy machine. It froze up in many ways.

So I read up on the threads, banks dips his head in with some info and I figure Hey, they have lost the weight, they are the experts.

I have lost steadily (except for dreaded plateau, which is a diff subject altogether) 1-2 lbs each week.

I hope this helps, message me if you want to talk:flowerforyou:
