Ok. Im 5'6 239 pounds :(. I am wondering what kind of exercises to do. I dont know much about them. I was thinking about just buying an eliptical but Id rather not if theres some exercises i could do without it. Also, if anyone knows some good exercises to fix really big thighs that would be greatly appreciated. I am a medium on top and my bottom half is size 18-20 so you can imagine how awkward it feels to be me lol. also, if you have succeeded in losing weight and you were around my body type let me know how you did it :).

Ive been dieting and swimming everyday for the last week and lost and inch off my thighs. Im not sure if its a coincidence or because of the swim. I susually do breast stroke although I mix it up and I can really feel my inner thigh muscles working when they are doing there froggy kicks!!!! I also have a Tony Little DVD which works out the major muscle groups including legs by doing squats etc which worked although I never stuck to it long enough. Good luck and I'm sure you'll find loads of good suggestions on here

The key is to lose weight. The thighs will reduce in size as you do this. Unfortunately it's not possible to spot-reduce fat in certain areas, although you can tone the muscles underneath the fat. Just keep making sure calories in < calories out (sensibly) and they will eventually go.

Think about it: overweight runners don't have really thin legs and heavy upper bodies - they're moderately heavy all over. Spot reduction isn't possible!

hey! I've been doing the super hula hoop (on the nintendo wii) for 12mins a day for about 6 weeks and lost 3inches of each thigh! Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hey! My thighs have always been a problem too, but since joining the gym in Feb have lost about 4 inches off them, along with 18 pounds :) Just stick to the diet and try to exercise 3-4 times a week (Exercise= anything that makes you sweat and feel a bit out of breath for more than 30 minutes) and it will go away eventually as your weight goes down :)

I have found that dancing has worked best on my legs. I am also of the thunder thigh type. I am 20" bigger on the bottom. I have begun doing bellydance and I feel it working on my outer thighs which is amazing. There are lots of exercises for inner thigh but not many for outer. Also Zumba does some good there too. A group of us on here have started getting together to do water aerobics too. If you've have people in your area on here, maybe between you, there is a pool and youtube offers videos of water aerobics moves you can do. It's a pleasant way to exercise that really works.

Best exercise for thighs(and butt, hamstrings, quads,) are squats and lunges. Do them weighted, do them not weighted... that is honestly what has mad the biggest difference in my lower half.
