Ok so I have a bit of a dilemma
Im spending the summer in France and moving around for some of the time. At the minute were staying in a hotel but meals seem to be a bit of a prob. For one thing theres no fridge in the room so i couldnt buy cereal or stuff like that. I bought some cereal bars but they dont really keep you full (and i miss my porridge!! :P). Aswell as that snacking is another prob. Tuc seems to be my lifesaver but im wondering if anyone has any advice on healthy but available stuff i can snack on in the evening when were back in the hotel? For breakfast i was thinking maybe just getting fruit or something? I really dont want to fall into bad eating habits over here. Any tips?

you could still have cereal without a fridge. Most milk in france is UHT, and if you get skimmed (ecreme) then it doesnt actually taste much different to fresh milk, as its only the fat in it that is changed by the heating process0

I've traveled a lot in Europe and I'd say the best thing is to go to grocery stores as much as you can, you know what you're getting unlike in a restaurant or cafe and its cheaper! You can get fruit, like you mentioned, and simple things like bread and cheese. Just eat in moderation, and if you're traveling, walk as much as you can!0

France is not a third world country.
Just do what you would if you were travelling in your own country and didn't have access to a fridge. I am assuming that whilst you may not have a fridge you have access to other cooking facilities like a hob, oven or microwave?
Just go to the supermarket. Cook. Make healthy sandwiches.
I've travelled most of Europe and it really isn't a problem.
I have met Americans in France who brought their own toilet paper from the US. I'm wondering if it's a cultural thing... There is civilization on the other side of the Atlantic I promise... :smokin: :flowerforyou:0 -

Nope, nothing at all to cook with. Just a bed, 4 walls and a bathroom! But i do understand what your saying. I just gotta get up off my backside and try harder to make healthy choices! :drinker:0 -
what about those breakfast biscuits that come in portion packs of 4 and are like 50 cals each. A packet of those with your coffee in the morning is reasonable, and most french supermarkets have a good selection.
just take it easy on the breads and cheeses and you should be ok0 -
and fruit, keep bananas apples and oranges in your room0

O ye the Belvita biscuits!! There is a Fruit and Fibre one (the one we always got), Milk and Cereal one, and Crunchy Oats!! There are also many Belvita bars too!! If you eat them with fruity yoghurts!! :drinker:0 -
