Today I took a very big step - i signed up for my first race. It's a half marathon (Gothenburg, Sweden), and I have 11 months to train for it :) I wanted to have something to train for besides loosing weight, and getting healthier, and I think a race sounds like a fun and good thing to do. I know a half marathon is probably a lot for me to do, but the only goal I have is to complete it. Will definitely use a Runkeeper fitness class to train for it.

/k :)

    Excellent!

Beware. You might become addicted to crossing finish lines...

Thanks friends! I tried interval training for the first time today (walking 10 minutes, running 5 minutes) and it was the hardest and most fun thing I've done in a long time :)

Well done dude! Just remember to take it easy. 11 months is plenty enough time to do it. Try building up to a 5K first, then a 10K. Once you hit about 15K you should be able to just keep on trucking! It's all about the mental strength once you've built up the basic cardio fitness mind - just focus on anything other than the pain - it's all about the music for me! I'd recommend going to a website called something like www.jog.com- if you Google it you'll find it - it recommends music for you based on your running speed - I find it really good for when I'm running other than on the treadmill. Good luck again! :flowerforyou:
