Need help at work

Hi all,
My name is Melissa and I am search of motivation while at work. I am a RN and work 12 hour shifts. My eating habits are great at home, but when at work I always fail. There is always temptation surrounding me. For example, right now there is a box of Krispy Kreme donuts sitting right behind me. It is very difficult not to eat one, or all of the donuts. I am easily influenced by people around me, so if I see a co-worker eating chips, chocolate, or drinking a soda, I want one too. I usually cannot stop myself. I am fighting hard today to resist the urge to drink a Dr. Pepper and eat a donut. I really want to change my life, but I am unsure how to control my cravings while working 12 hour shifts. I am drinking water, which helps, but I struggle by the minute. Please help. Thank you.

Always keep healthy choices available. My daughter is an RN, and I know from what she's told me that it's difficult to do. But she keeps things like almonds, fiber one bars, veggies, string cheese, yogurt that she can grab and eat while she's working. I am not a nurse - I work in an office - but I pack my lunch and my snacks every morning before work and bring them. I have an insulated lunch box and I have it at my desk so I have no "excuse" to go to the vending machine or to walk past the "treat table" to grab something because I'm hungry. Is it easy? Not necessarily - but it's much easier if you have a healthy alternative to eat. :happy:0

Thank you Brenda,
Your post is very helpful. I do find that I do much better when I pack my lunch. There are periods of time throughout the day that I am busy other times not busy at all. The time that are not busy are difficult because we have so many unhealthy eating choices in the hospital. I think I will start keeping my lunch box at my desk so I have no excuse to cheat. Thank you again.0
