NSV Gym Time

So I've been doing the C25K for the past few weeks now. Week before this one we ended up not going to the gym because my husband injured his shoulder (somehow, hes not even sure how) and since the gym membership is in his name I can't go alone. I just let it go disappointed that I was getting behind in my C25K and at the time I thought "Here starts another stretch of us not going to the gym because he doesn't want to for X reason/hurt himself" (Which usually happens every few months for at least a month so when this thing comes up for renewal its going in MY name so I can go WITHOUT him if I need to!) The first half of the week we didn't go because I've had to do school stuff but yesterday I was done with all that at 4:30PM. I asked if we were going to go to the gym and he told me "Well my shoulder, knee and foot hurt so I can't do anything there so no" (He weight lifts to gain mass since he hates how thin he is)

Normally I'd have just left it at that and been disappointed but I didn't! I told him "I really need to go to the gym, I'm never going to lose weight if I can't work out. I'm really excited about doing C25K with all these other people and I'm already a week behind everyone! You don't have to do anything while we are there but I NEED to go!" which got the point across that I was serious about wanting to work out and was tired of not being able to go do so! I am so happy to be going back to the gym after a week and a half off from it! This is a big step for me both towards being serious in my weight loss but also in communicating properly because I've ALWAYS had a problem telling others what I need/want.

Way to go! Not to sound weird but I am really proud of you for standing up for YOUR needs and making your health a priority. Glad you are changing the gym membership to your name - sure they won't let you switch it early?

I am unsure, I keep meaning to ask but always forget (such bad memory lol) but I'm going to write it on my arm so I ask today! (can't lose my arm very easily!)

I decided to just call right now and they can switch it! I just have to fill out some paperwork and then I'll be primary and can go without him!! I am sooo freaking excited!

I am not sure where you live. But my partner is doing the C25K and she does it outside on nice days. So if the gym isnt an option for some reason, you could always do it at a park on around the neighbor hood. Just an idea. :) Good for you for standing up for yourself. You can't get what you want if you don't express it. :)

I live in Georgia and its been in the 90s/100s since summer started, if it was just me having to be out there for 30 minutes it would probably be ok but I know I'd have to take my daughter with me in her stroller and I don't really want to keep her out in that heat for that long. The reason we started going to the gym in the first place is because they have free childcare with the level of membership we have. I had tried working out at home but my daughter never takes long enough naps and she screams if she can't get to me so my husband never wants to keep her busy while I'm working out.

Its all good though, just found out I can have the membership changed over to my name just by filling out some paper work and no extra charge so getting to the gym will never be a problem for me again :)
