I was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease in my bottom three vertebrae about four years ago. I've been doing C25K for the past couple of months and really enjoy it, but I started feeling a little numbness in one of my toes. When I went to my doc to get checked out, she told me it was probably due to my DDD and that I should stop running and find something else. I own a treadmill, and I get really bored walking for a long period of time, so I'm not sure what to do.
Does anyone else suffer from this and still run? Is there anything special that you do to help with sciatic pain/weird numbness?

I have lumbar problems too. DDD and annular tears at L4 and 5. I can't run/jog for that reason. I get on the elliptical and get after it. I get my heart rate up just like I would with running but no pounding and no pain. This is what works for me but everybody is different. Good luck.

Have you ladies considered reduction surgery? I was a 38DDD almost a decade ago. Lost 40#s and found myself at a 34DDD. Insurance paid for all but a $1k co-pay. Now I'm a 34D. No way could I have run before. I had to wear 2 bras just to do relatively low-impact stuff.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, have you considered cycling? Very low impact and you can start at a very easy pace and build up strength and stamina bit by bit.

    Cheers!

My degeneration is due to injuries from a car accident rather than large breasts. Haha I can only wish mine were larger!

I would love to be able to use an elliptical, but since we already own a treadmill and there's nearly no resale value for them, it isnt feasible financially right now.

I have ddd too, I only run for short periods and even a good bra doesn't help. I usually end up holding my chest if I'm running indoors its the only thing that helps a little! Good luck!
