Im thinking of getting one but Im not sure. another question I have that isn't nesecarily going to affect my decision is if anyone has any experience or knows someone who is Tall and weighs over 350 pounds who has used one of these machines... how do you like it?

I tried one at the gym a few years ago. It was okay, but the treads were spread a bit wide for my natural gate, so I kept stepping on the inner edge and tripping myself up. I think if I want the feel of hiking, I'd rather actually hike. Otherwise, I prefer the regular treadmill or an elliptical, or even a stair climber.
I am only 5' tall, so that may be a factor.

I never used one, but it's common physics. It claims to burn 2 times the amount of calories as a treadmill. I can promise you it's also 2 times harder than a treadmill. If I had the money, i'd just by a good treeadmill.
  • I've never tried one either -- but when I joined my gym, I asked it they had one and the trainer said they used to have a couple but they always had mainenance issues so they got rid of them. He thought the ellipitical was a better workout. A few months after I joined there, I hurt my back and was in physical therapy for a few weeks -- and noticed the workout room at the PT place didn't have one either so I asked my therapist about them and he said you have to be really coordinated to walk on them and said the ellipitical was a better workout -- safer because your feet stay on the pedals while they are moving and less damaging to the knees and a great calorie burn.

okay, you don't look like 400lbs. it threw me off. For him, i'd just recommend a treadmill... I think the treadclimber might be to hard for him. Like i said, yes it doubles the amount of calories you burn on a treadmill... but it's also 2 times harder.
