Post Gastric Bypass Image

Hello all. I have a couple of questions regarding weight loss/image after gastric bypsss. I'm a 24 year old new mother to an 11 month old. I had the roux en y procedure in 2005 when I weighed 320lbs. I lost a lot of weight really quickly. Down to 160lbs. Then I started picking up bad habits and quickly found myself back up to 200 (which was my regular pre-pregnancy weight). Since having my son, I started being a little wiser about eating healthy. I started using MFP religiously about 2 months ago and have now gotten down to 172lbs. I'm loving how much smaller I look but I'm bothered by all of my excess skin. I feel like I would probably be at least 4 pants sizes smaller if it wasn't for my apron. I'm sure the c-section didn't help with that either.
So I guess what I'm asking is if there's anything I can do that's not as costly as cosmetic surgery? I know I'm young and my skin is supposedly still elastic but I think it may not be shrinking back any more. And if I were to consider surgery, at what point would I go in? My goal weight is 150lbs. I'm losing so rapidly that I see myself being there soon but still unhappy with my shape. Anyone else gone through something similar? I'm starting to feel discouraged by all of this so any advice would greatly be appreciated.

It's not unusual to have a great deal of excess skin losing at such a fast rate or losing a large amount of weight, it can be quite common.
Most doctors suggest waiting at least 2 years before considering plastic surgery to remove skin and do any lifts. Our bodies are still adjusting and making changes during that time. The best person to ask for more details would be your own doctor/surgeon.0 -

Me too! I have a feeling I'd be about 4 sizes smaller in pants if it weren't for the apron.0 -
Not going to give you the answer you want, probably - but, sorry the answer is no. You can reduce the excess skin some with exercise but when losing weight quickly after being morbidly obese it just isn't going to go away without cosmetic surgery. I had GPS in 2004 and lost almost 150 pounds, I exercise religiously but did end up having a tummy tuck because the excess skin bothered me to much. I would like to get my inner thighs done as well. What I try to focus on is how much healthier I am and that my health - not looks - was the key reason that I got motivated enough to take my weight loss seriously. Works most of the time. : )0
