After my weigh in this morning I am no longer obese just very overweight! hahaha....
My BMI this morning puts me into the overweight category. Although I can't say I'm a big fan of BMI (low end of my healthy range is 126lbs...yeah right. Based on my build if I'm ever 126lbs I will be very sick...) I'm going to enjoy no longer being obese!
Plus this week I passed the 1/2 way mark to my goal. Only 33 more lbs to go. I have 4 months until a 3 week vacation in Europe and want to lose at least another 23lbs before then.
3lbs more and I'll break the 200lb barrier. Time to hit the gym!

Hi Gargoyle999,
Congratulation on your success. Do you know your body fat percentage?
I don't worry about the BMI, because it can't tell a person how much fat is on their body. It's only the ration between height and weight. Everyone that's the same height and weighs the same will have the same BMI.
According to the BMI chart, a bodybuilder can be obese.
I let my doctor worry about BMI for the purpose the doctor's use it for, but I worry about my body fat percentage, because it lets me know how much pounds of fat I'm carrying.0 -
I do know my body fat %, sort of. I have a Withings scale that measures it as well as a hand held unit that is the same as my gym uses for the monthly measurements. They are about 4% different so I just look for a downward trend on each. Guess they are just rough estimates anyway.
I don't think BMI is very useful, it's just fun to fall out of the obese category.0 -
The BMI can have a person in obese, where as the body fat percentage can have a person in a healthy range.0
