I don't know how to title this question!

Okay, I check my weight periodically throughout the week to make sure I'm on the right track (about every other day). My weight hardly ever fluctuates unless I check after a cheat day/cheat meal. Anyways... All this week, I've been losing a bit of weight every time I check. This morning was my official weigh-in day, and when I stepped on the scale this morning? I'm back where I started. Actually, I've gained .2 pounds. This has happened to my COUNTLESS times before. I don't know what to do; I'm getting so fed up here. I want to cry. How can I have steady weight loss all week long and then gain it all back the day of the weigh-in? It's not like I over-ate yesterday. I didn't do anything different from the rest of the week.

if you ask questions like this you should really open your diary. Mine is closed but i dont ask questions like this ; ) when i do need to ask something like this, ill be sure to open it.0

this used to happen to me ALL THE TIME, so you know what i did? i stopped having an official weigh in day, and just started weighing myself every morning, and i just recorded my lowest weight of the whole week as the official. if you're doing everything right, and eating right and getting your exercise in, you know damn well that you haven't really gained weight. it will take so much stress off of your shoulders to not have an official set day to record your weight.0

You could be retaining water... this same thing just happened to me this past week (3 lbs). Do you drink diet soda (this will cause you to become bloated)? Try drinking water with lemon juice in it, and eating more fiber. I know any + on the scale can be really frustrating, but we can't let that get to us. We have to use set backs like this as stepping stones towards our goals.0

I also weigh every day (sometimes multiple times a day), just to see how much my weight is fluctuating. This just proves to me how fickle the scale is -- it's not the best measurement for success. You can do everything right one week, and gain -- then the next time you "splurge" or aren't as disciplined, you can lose.
I focus on the trend of my weight vs. an actual number. It sounds like you're doing the right things and are on the right track. I would focus on that and not the 0.2 pounds that are gained today -- this is probably just a minor fluctuation.0 -
I think you should focus more on the BIG picture and that's the fact you have lost 130lbs!!!! Wow that's awesome Don't lose hope...our bodies are weird sometimes and you don't want to stress yourself out trying to figure out something you might not be able to. That stress can be a factor too! You know I think that the same is true for us as it is for women that worry they are pregnant and w/ that fear delay their monthly "visitor".
Eat healthy, drink lots of water, don't skip breakfast, log your calories and exercise at least 30 mins a day. And most importantly...breathe0 -
Did I read your ticker right? You've lost 132 lbs? If this is true then you should know that weight does fluctuate but your on a losing trend. People have mentioned, sodium, diet soda, time of the month, all sorts of things that can influence. My big question is do you weigh at the same time each day? I am a daily weigher but I also weigh at 6 am every day, completely naked, after using the restroom. This way I'm comparing apples to apples.0

Experts recommend weighing once a week. Otherwise you end up with exactly what you're saying- it's normal for weight to fluctuate, so weighing daily can be counter-productive and discouraging. Pick one day a week; weigh yourself at the same time of the day, with the same things on (or naked, if you prefer).0

yeah i do not have a set weigh in day for progress, i just weigh daily in morning after going to bathroom, if it says ive lost some from the last time then i put it on here i dont track the .blah of the pounds. right now im also proud that even just 15 lbs gone my BMI WENT FROM 38 TO 34!
keep in mind your also young and might still be growing, dont know how tall you are im 5'2 but 140 might be a better end goal that 130, that way ya got just the right amount of curves as a woman should. i have a huge rear that wont go anywhere (its lost cause even when i was under 120 i had to get much bigger sizes just to fit my butt.)keep in mind you have lost 132 lbs which is amazing in itself!0 -
I weigh in every morning too. It helps me to stay motivated or get motivated! Something I have found with myself is I could be doing everything right day after day but won't lose anything for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden I've lost 4 pounds. Maybe this is just part of a series of plateaus seeing as you have lost so much already and patience and persistence is going to be needed for a longer period than what you would normally do to see results.0

Maybe try weighing in on a different day?
I used to weigh myself every day, then I'd record the results and make a graph so I could see it going down. But it was weird, like you, it always used to go down during the week gradually, then go back up on the weekends. But I just had to pay attention to the overall trend.0 -
I'm not supposed to weigh myself daily as a part of my recovery from bulimia.0

My scale doesn't have ounces - which I think is a good thing... body weight fluctuates even within in a single day! To lose yourself in the ounces is a sure way to drive yourself batty!!
I used to have a set weigh in, but lately, I've been logging whenever I see a solid one lb down. If I'm hovering between two numbers, then I don't record it - unless the higher number is still a lb down. I also don't pay too much attention to the times my weight fluctuates up... this is especially true for the times I weigh myself later in the day (I prefer to weigh myself first thing in the morning).
You've already lost a great amount of weight! You're doing an amazing job! Don't let the little obstacles (like ounces) get you down. Once you lose all your weight, you've got a lifetime to maintain it... Just do your best and it'll all work out in the end!0
