HRM Polar FT4 question

When I got the watch it was off, now I started it and I wonder if I can turn to watch off to save the batteries or does it stay on like a regular watch on you place your personal settings in

I have the FT4 and the bottom left button turns it off. It will still say the time though, just like a watch.

I believe it stays on like a watch, atleast mines does. Here is a tutorial video of the various Models including the FT4 near the bottom.
