I'm going on a business trip to New Orleans soon and will be there for five days. I've begun fantasizing about beigniets and shrimp creole. Do you think it's possible to diet in New Orleans?

lol, well I live in New Orleans so I'd say yes, but I know it's completely different when you're just visiting. I don't think one day of indulging in our great food will ruin everything you've worked for And the rest of the time try to get boiled or baked/grilled seafood if you like it, you can get it at almost any restaurant here.0

I live here in New Orleans (born & raised!)...it's possible Before you go have in your mind what you want to splurge on & keep to it. Good luck!!0

I'm sure it is...but I wouldn't. LOL! New Orleans is one of my favorite places, and my favorite memories are food and music. Maybe this isn't the "right" answer, but when visiting food meccas like NOLA I say screw the diet...mostly. GO to Cafe Du Monde and have a serving of beignets. Go to Willie Mae's Scotch House and enjoy the best fried chicken I ever put in my mouth. Life is about experiences...not always diets...maybe try and have a nice healthy breakfast, and fit in a workout in the morning. I ran every morning we were there, ate some AMAZING food...and if I gained any (no idea if I did), then I lost it once I got home. Cochon is probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been in too. LOL! Sorry..I'm not helping. Haha! Moderate a little, but ENJOY. It's an amazing, amazing city. I'm jealous. :-)0

Nope. Lol. You just enjoy it! It'll be okay as long as you don't absolutely STUFF yourself.0

I took a 2 week road trip last summer, 5 days were spent in New Orleans. I used the hotel's gym, and ate what I wanted (though I am a vegetarian...but did eat some fish while there....I love raw oysters), and only put on 1.6lbs, which I quickly lost and attribute it to going from a mile high (I live in Denver) to sea level (or below actually) and back!! Good luck and enjoy yourself!!0

I lived in Louisiana for 7 months in 2010/2011 for work. The food was GREAT, but I think you'll probably find it all so rich that you won't be able to eat all that much Louisiana cooking all at once. At least, I couldn't. The food is all soo rich that it left me full for a very long time, and craving lighter, healthier meals after a not-so-healthy meal or snack. So I think if maybe you stick to 1 special "New Orleans treat" a day, you'll feel satisfied, whether it be crawfish, a beignet, a po boy, etc.0
