I'm having a yucky week!

I had a really great weekend, filled with shopping for new, SMALL clothes and an amazing hike in a state park on Sunday. But I don't feel rested at all. I'm exhausted, I'm cranky, and I feel physically *pooped*.

I got bitten by something on Saturday at home and it has gotten worse since then. It's now about 2 inches in diameter and my ankle is swollen, throbbing, and SORE. Like... sprained ankle sore. I went to the doctor and I have a skin infection called cellulitis. and I'm on antibiotics. boo hiss.

I also have a GIGANTIC cold sore on my lower lip. I get them when I get colds/sinus infections and when I'm stressed out - - which I have been for weeks now. I'm under a ton of pressure from my new job.

Here are some blessings I should count so I'm not a total whine-ball:
I have a job and can pay my bills
I have a wonderful husband who is amazing
I've actually lost weight 2 weeks in a row!
I have a roof over my head
I have enough to eat
I am loved
Aside from the cold sore and cellulitis on my ankle, I'm otherwise very healthy.

I've just been in a funk lately and can't seem to shake it...

Anyone have any good cold-sore remedies?

lysine- I helps your bodys skin - says on the bottle immune/skin health-- I take these two to three times a day the first day I feel like I am getting a cold sore and I will either not get one or it will only last a day or so -- I had a whole mouth full a few years ago - i couldn't even talk and this is what a friend of mine recomended and I have never used anything else -- now I only get them maybe once a year!

    description on bottle --

lysine is an essential amino acid that is NOT made by the body and must be obtained from diet. amino acids support cell growth and function and form the basis for protien. lysine is especially important and is usedfor the health and integrity of the skin and lips.

this is on the spring valley brands bottle which you can find at walmart and albertsons for about $3.00 a bottle 100 tablets - recomended two per day

I don't think I could sing higher praises then for Abreva!! I have had cold sores chronically my whole life since childhood (averaging one doozy a year). About 5 years ago, I found Abreva and the MINUTE I feel that telltale tingle, I start using it. I have only ended up with one, maybe two tiny blisters at the most instead of my typical dime-size embarrasing sore! Yes, it's a little too late to prevent it but it is proven to reduce the life of a cold sore. It is expensive, about 15 dollars for a tube weighing 0.07oz...but I'd buy a tube a year if I had to because it works so well. I hope you feel better soon! Take care of that ankle!

lysine is even recommended for cats with herpes - I have one with the illness and he hasn't had an outbreak
  • If you are prone to cold sores (like me), you may want to get an rx for Zovirax (Acyclovir). I keep a tube in my purse all the time. At that first tingle you apply it, and 1/2 the time it doesn't even show up if you catch it early enough. If the disgusting thing does bust out, the cream reduces healing time dramatically. Sounds like your body is telling you something! ( slow down, relax:)
