No. Your body burns calories just by living, breathing, sleeping, etc. You need to find out what your BMR is (what your body burns by just living) and eat under that.0

well yes but you need to take into acount how much you burn just during daily activites... I read that even on a lazy day you burn about 1000 calories. I eat 1200 and try to burn 200-300 a day with exercise. hope this helps!0

Yes, but you have to remember that just being alive burns calories. You could lay in bed for 24 hours and burn a lot of calories. It's just how your body survives. You need to calculate your min calories burned per day and then any exercise you do specifically for fitness is above that.0

And the wonderful thing about this site is you don't have to figure it out. They do it for you!!!0

If you are eating 12,000 there may not be enough exercise time in the day to burn that off - I think Michael Phelps only ate 8000 when he was training for the Olympics :-) (Sorry, had to be a smart-a.. and have fun with the number typo)
Seriously, eat the base calories that MFP tells you - it calculates how much you burn through basal metabolism and normal daily activities, and how much you want to lose per week - if it has set you up to lose 1-2 pounds per week, then you should probably eat at least some of the calories back that you burn off through exercise - although it may sound great to burn more and lose faster, it's actually unhealthy to lose more than 2 pounds per week, unless you are under a doctor's care. I don't necessarli recommend eating back all of your exercise calories, though, because the estimates of calories burned are often high on here.0
