Hi! I started using myfitnesspal about a month ago and so far I have lost almost 20 pounds! I've used many different apps and web sites to keep track of my calories and fitness but myfitnesspal is by far the easiest and best so far! My goal is about 100 pounds but I have a friend I'm "competing" with and we are doing this in 10 pound increments. The competition helps to keep me focused and tracking the calories and most importantly the exercise. Most of my exercise is walking but I do bike riding occassionally. I don't have my own bike anymore so I have to use my husbands and he's almost a foot taller than me so his bike is a little big for me! I want to join a gym but only if it has a pool because I feel in my heart of hearts that swimming laps in a pool will be my best course of action. I spend all day walking around work (I've picked up the pace to make it more like exercise) so walking when I get home doesn't always get done. But when I do walk, I walk 4 miles and I try to beat the last time I walked that distance! Unfortunately, I think I've hit the plateau point and I'm stuck at 19 pounds! How do I break the plateau???

    Welcome and good luck!
I am dealing with a plateau right now too. I am changing things up, going to drink more water and change up my work out routines. You basically need to trick your body is what I understand.
  • 100 pounds lost!!??!!! AWESOME! I can't wait to get to that point! I'm trying to trick my body but I already drink about a gallon of water a day, and I'm not a big exercise person. I like "easy" things, like walking, riding the bike or swimming. Thinks that dont make my heart "feel" like its racing. A doctor, once, told me I have exercise induced asthma when I described to him how it was hard to breathe if I do too much, and that my chest feels like its on fire. He told me it was dangerous to make my body go through that so I need to be careful....with that being said, I fear for my life in both directions. That is why I do the "easy" exercise, at least until I get more lost weight, then we shall see if I can push myself to do more strenuous stuff.
