    She means Heart Rate Kirsty. I know at my gym all the machines have ages in 10 year blocks with your 80% heart rate level and you can work out the absolute max from there. I'm sure you could find it on the internet somewhere.

    Just had a quick look on Google and the one I went into said max HR should be 220 - Age. I'd confirm this with your gym or Doctor if I were you though - who knows what nonsense is on the internet!

    Good luck

    200-your age gives your maximum heart rate. optimum aerobic heart rate is 70-80% of that

    HR=Heart Rate.

    To answer the OP's question, it depends on not only your age but also how fit you are to begin with. There are several target heart rate calculators out there you can find through google that will show you your maximum heart rate and depending on your goals and current fitness level will determine what percentage of your max heart rate you should be exercising at.

    When they set mine at the gym they said 220 for men, 200 for women
