Hello everyone,

My apologies for being so late on getting the June thread started. Life, as always, gets in the way posting and so many other things.

This group is for those of us who are shorter in nature. We have found that while loosing weight is hard enough to do in general, those of us of a petite nature seem to have an even harder time.

What are your goals for June? Are you changing things up for the summer time?

My goal for June is to eat more fruits. I do love fruit, but living in the Southwest where everthing is shipped in from Florida or one of the coast has made it difficult. I miss not just going in the backyard and picking fresh fruit right off a tree or bush.

Have a great Sunday all,

Jeannie

I guess that I should have added that I grew up in Connecticut where most of my family ran fruit and vegatable stands and we grew almost all of our own fruits and veggies. Then I moved to Southern California and lived within walking distance of a farm owned stand. Now, I am in New Mexico where very little other than chili peppers are local. lol

 Hi Jeannie, thanks for starting the new thread......I have been remiss about posting on the old one and will try to do better with this one.

:flowerforyou: I love living far north where the days are really long in the summer so in June my goal is to get up early in the morning and have time to take the dogs for an hour walk even on days when I have early classes and appointments....it's on these early walks that I'm trying to run a little ( like past seven houses     ).

 I am learning to be without my exercise bike and these morning walks with the dogs have been the additional calorie burner that I need.......the living room looks better without the exercise bike, and in the long warm summer days it will be fine, but when the days get short and it's colder, I'll have to make a new plan........but, taking one day at a time, things are perfect right now.

 during a few years of my childhood we lived in South Florida and had two huge mango trees in our yard and ate mangoes every day

Thanks for the new thread Jam. I have been really bad about posting lately. I have been so busy with things going on I am sometimes finishing my food diary the following day. Got to get myself back on track. I am starting the 30 day shred today I hope I do ok.

Jam- I hope things are improving your way, if not hang in there.

Barbie-I'm glad your enjoying the longer days!

Jeannie - I hope things get better for you. I understand not wanting to talk/post!!

My goal for June (since I am recovering from foot surgery) will be to try eat foods promoting bone health and strengthening, focus on upper body strength and to get myself mentally prepared to go back to work

I am enjoying a very sweet cantaloupe for breakfast this week. The good thing about getting a good one is that no one else in my family eats them, so it lasts me a week.

Not sure how many of you know about the huge forest fire in Arizona, but the smoke reached New Mexico a couple of weeks ago. The air is so unhealthy there are warnings everyday. Today they say that even healthy people should not be exercising outside again. It makes it kind of hard to get any exercise in. I am focusing on not going over 1200 calories a day or there abouts.

Barbie, Daybyday, Babygurl, Annita - Glad you all checked in and I hope this is a good day for all of you.

:flowerforyou: Jeannie, I've been in places up north where there were fires and I remember the bad air  can you do indoor exercise like videos or just walk and jog while watching TV or listening to music ? what about "Gut 'n' Butt"?

:flowerforyou: daybyday, you probably have some good ideas for Jeannie of working out she can do indoors while the outdoor smoke is so bad

Barbie - Thanks for all the reminders.

Last weekend the warnings included pets. They said to move all pets indoors and keep them there. Our poor horses have no barn to be put into. They were very stressed by the smoke smells and calling to the other horses in the area. Between the horse calling, the dogs barking and the coyotes howling, it has not exactly been quiet in the country.

Today is a good air day so far. The kids are going swimming after summer school. I wish I could take the afternoon off and join them!

    Have a great day everyone,

    Jeannie

 wow, Jeannie, I feel really bad for the animals......they can't understand why they have to stay inside and the poor horses with no place to go

    Happy Friday everyone!

What are your plans for the weekend?

We are cooking out and staying home for Father's Day. I hope to start exercising again. More than anything else, I want good dog walking weather.

:flowerforyou: it's raining here but that didn't stop me from taking the poodles for a walk for over an hour this morning.....we don't have to deal with either heat or bugs:bigsmile:

:flowerforyou: tomorrow we go to a wedding reception barbecue so I hope the weather improves  that solves my problem of what to do for hubby for a Fathers Day meal

We have plenty of water in my surrounding area (IA, NE, MO flooding) I wish could be channeled to you with the fires.

Jeannie - I do have a couple websites for "chair aerobics" if you are interested.

I start back to work for a couple hours this morning after being off 2.5 weeks for foot surgery. I guess the good thing is it will burn more calories.

If you are going back to work, that must be good news that your recovery is going well.    don't overdo and you'll be back to your normal active self before you know it

DaybyDay, I am glad to hear your recovery is coming along. It always feels weird going back after being off for a while.

Barbie, I like seeing the "old" picture of the dogs again. They are so pretty.

I have walked, swam, done arm exercise and ButNGut this week. It feels good to be getting back on track. Also, I am back to planning my dinners weekly. Lunches are interesting this summer as the kiddos are coming over and having lunch with me after summer school gets out. So, we are packing stuff to eat together.

I hope everyone is doing OK. This tread seems to come and go with the number of people posting here.

  • I am new to this one but I like the idea. My current goal, although it isnt just for june, is to reach 130 lbs by august 7th. It will be the 2 year anniversary for my fiance and I, and my reward for achieving it will be to get to go try on wedding dresses. Although my overall goal is to be 125, I know that the last 5 will be the hardest so I am not going to set an impossible goal.

I am new to this thread and would love to converse with those who have similar struggles. I turn 38 on August 2nd and would love to weigh 135 by then. Lately the hunger has been going up and the numbers just aren't coming down...imagine that!! I have lost over 40 pounds a couple of times, but this time I am stuck at 28. It is a lot harder this time around. Ugh!

    Welcome Supermom4abcd and kristinathenina!

Supermom4abcd - I have been stuck since before Christmas. It stinks. If you lost the weight before you can do it again.

Kristinathenina - How exciting to have shopping for a wedding dress as a reward. You are looking at it the right way-one thing at a time.

I have 7 calories left today. Talk about cutting it close. My biggest mistake since the holidays was to let myself stop exercising everyday. I use to exercise 30 minutes a day 5-6 days a week. Now, I am lucky to get 30 minutes a week.

    Have a great evening all,

    Jeannie

:flowerforyou: I am grateful today that I live in an area that has cool weather even in the summer. today it barely got to 60 degrees and with the wind felt even cooler so going for a walk and working in the yard were perfect morning, afternoon, and evening. Walking with or without dogs is my regular exercise when I can get outdoors and I did a lot of it today.

:flowerforyou: Kristinathenina what a great incentive it is to be getting ready to try on wedding dresses  you are so right about the last five pounds.....they will come off but verrrrrrrrrry slowly, not at all like the first five but remember, never, never, never give up

:flowerforyou: supermom, just don't give up.....add some more exercise, continue to check your food diary for empty calories and just keep on going

    Hello everyone,

Finally, I got back on the Wii this morning and did some yoga. It felt good and I hope to repeat again tomorrow. I am so excited that it looks like I will be able to return to Yoga classes (we have them at work) in the fall when the kids go back to school. The schedule will work out for me to be able to go to the Tuesday / Thursday noon class. There is an evening class on Monday / Wednesday at 5:15. I do know how lucky I am to have a free class right where I work, but it is still hard to get there with everything life throws at me.

Have a great day and I hope you are all doing well.
